February 14th is practically here, which means if you haven’t already picked up a Valentine’s Day gift, you better soon. If you are need an easy last minute Valentine’s Day gift for someone you love, here are a few great Valentine’s Day gift ideas.
Create Handprint Art
I love painting canvases with my daughters that capture the size of a hand, foot, or simply their age. Homemade art projects double as decorative memorabilia you can display year after year. This Valentine’s Day, make a Handprint Valentine’s Day craft with your children and gift a family member or friend something that lasts forever.
Shop Local
There are many local shops with unique last minute Valentine’s Day gifts. Don’t forget the small businesses when you’re out and about. Here is a Local Small Business Valentine’s Day gift guide for my area.
Order a Practical Gift
If you do not have an Amazon Alexa yet, this could be a great practical gift. This year we added an Echo Show to our kitchen – I love watching Netflix while I cook and using it as a phone to make quick calls. There are other Alexa options available as well, such as the Echo Dot or the Echo Pop. One last Alexa product on our wish list is the Echo Dot for Kids.
For my soft boiled egg loving husband, I snagged an egg timer for $5. Other practical gift ideas: yoga mat, glass water bottle, coffee mug, etc. Here are some items from Amazon that arrive in 24-48 hours.
Make Homemade Dinner or Dessert
We all know the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Whenever I can make a favorite meal for a loved one, it brings me great joy. For Valentine’s Day, cook or bake your sweetheart’s favorite dish. If you’re not the best chef, surprise someone with a To-Go order from a local restaurant or bakery.
Assemble a Memory/Photo Album
Since most of the photos our society takes of special moments are captured on our phones, there has been a decline in printed photo albums. I absolutely love being able to look through old photographs from my childhood and hope that my children can do the same someday. Chatbooks are an incredible monthly photo book service I highly recommend!
Make a memory or photo album for a last minute Valentine’s Day gift. We just created an album from our Christmas photo shoot using the Motif app. It’s so easy! Whether it is a montage of your best times together or focused on one event, I guarantee a photo album gift will be cherished.
Write a Love Letter
There is nothing more meaningful than a handwritten note. Since the first of the month, I’ve been writing my daughters and husband little love letters every day. Annabelle wakes up each morning excited to read her new heart note, as well as her sister’s and Daddy’s. “You’re brilliant,” “I love the way you protect our daughters,” and “Your laughter makes our days bright” are just a few compliments I’ve given my family! Take the time to write a love letter to your Valentine!
Give a Gift Card
A last minute Valentine’s Day gift for ANYONE is a gift card. Who doesn’t love free money to spend? Paired with a handwritten heartfelt note a gift card is an easy idea for teachers, friends, parents, kids or even grandparents!

Thank you for taking time to remind us all that the little things, which aren’t little at all, are what really matter to those most important to us. Things like photo albums, handwritten notes, and something homemade are so important in a marriage and for our children.
Caitlin, thank you for the valuable reminder that it is the “little things”, which aren’t little at all, are what is really important to our loved ones. I think your suggestions are fabulous!
