First of all, today is my big brother’s birthday!! Yayyyy!!! Happy Birthday J!!!
My brother is 12 years older than me (as you can see above). He is probably one of the funniest people I know, the BESTEST father to my two nephews, and incredible husband, and an awesome brother.
He gave one of the best speeches at our wedding!
Over the years he has become my great friend and I really look up to him. He has intelligent advice and great stories to make me laugh when I am having a bad day. I hope he gets to enjoy today. I had my mom pick up his gift in CT and hopefully she will give it to him this a.m. I hope he has a slap happy birthday!!
The weird part about today though… is that my brother shares his birthday with someone very special. Today would have also been my Grandma’s birthday. She passed away in February and I don’t think I have still fully accepted the fact that she is gone. I went home for the funeral and everything, but then went right back to Maryland and it seemed like I had to just move on, when all I wanted to do was mourn. With that being said, today I would give anything to be able to call her. To make her laugh – to sing to her in my awful voice – to just hear her voice.
My mom and her sisters are going to have a tough day too. I am sending what strength I have to them today. We love you Grandma Toots – and hope you are having the best birthday up there with the angels you could ever have!

Thank you for the lovely post about Mommy. She loved you as well as all of her children/grandchildren. We were so blessed to have her be happy to know she loved when you came home to visit. She cherished those moments. Love you always Mom
