It’s been quite awhile since I’ve put together a Friday Favorites post! We had an interesting week over here – starting with a very icy MLK day and ending with a lot of rain. Our basement is filled with water along one wall that was unfortunately lined with unpacked boxes. A lot of the week seems blurry since I haven’t been feeling well and Annabelle had oral surgery to remove a molar on Thursday. Our weekend ahead is very busy and I feel like Monday will be here in no time! Without further adieu, here are my Friday Favorites.
Rose Quartz Roller for your Sinuses
Let me tell you something… the best remedy for a sinus headache is NOT medicine. It’s a stone roller… for your face. I’ve been rolling my cheeks and forehead non-stop with the Skin Gym Rose Quartz Roller I received for Christmas this week because it’s the only thing that feels good.
The Tooth Fairy
Since Annabelle technically lost her first tooth yesterday, it was only appropriate that the Tooth Fairy pay her a visit last night. She started asking to go to bed at 4pm because she was so excited for the fairy to come. Do you remember her obsession with the Tooth Fairy years ago?
Even though the tooth didn’t fall out on it’s own, we are probably closer than we think to her losing her first tooth this year. Losing a tooth is such a huge milestone in a child’s life and we are so not ready for the momentous occasion. I wish she could stay little forever.
P.S. She was SO excited to find a little bit of money under her pillow from the Tooth Fairy.
Swim Lessons
For Christmas Annabelle and Ailey received swim lessons from their grandparents. Annabelle has had swim lessons before, but it’s been Ailey’s first time in the YMCA pool. Since she is so young, a grown-up (aka me) has to be in the pool with her. I love her excitement and enthusiasm, as well as her fearless attitude towards the water. Annabelle is very timid about swimming because she hates getting her ears/face wet, but Ailey doesn’t care at all.
By the way – shopping for a swimsuit in the winter is NOT fun. I found a great Mom-suit at Target though for $35 and wish I bought it in a few colors. The Ruffle One Piece by Kona Sol has a slimming waistline, full coverage butt, adjustable straps and cups up top.
Storage Baskets and Containers
With half the country inspired by Marie Kondo to Konmari their home, I’m on the hunt for baskets and containers. I’ve always been one of the most disorganized, organized people and waiver between having my stuff together/not being able to find anything at all. From my drawers to the bathroom cabinets to the girls’ playroom, I need a lot of help sorting our belongings. TJ Maxx is my favorite place to look for functional storage containers and baskets, but I haven’t purchased anything yet! Here are some of my favorites:
No Spend January
I know a lot of people are trying “No Spend” January/2019 and I realized we involuntarily jumped on the bandwagon. Aside from essentials (food and toiletries), we haven’t bought anything this month. I had a cart filled last weekend during J.Crew’s big sale, but didn’t pull the trigger. It’s a satisfying feeling to not spend money on non-essentials! No Spend Months seem like a great idea for breaking bad habits – like getting food to go from a restaurant because you didn’t meal plan for the week.
Loaded Baked Potato Soup
I posted a recipe for Dairy Free Loaded Baked Potato Soup last Sunday that was a big hit in my household. A few IG followers messaged me that they made it this week too! Trying out new recipes is one of my favorite things to do and I hope to share those that are successful with you more often on the blog. Head to my IG Highlights to see what I’ve been cooking lately!

CT Style Guest Appearance – Cabin Fever
I’m really excited to be a guest on CT Style (WTNH Channel 8) today talking about my ideas for beating Cabin Fever with Kids. There is nothing worse than feeling like you’re trapped indoors for the winter – blanket forts are a MUST, as well as sing-along dance parties.
The Year of No Snow?
We are almost through with the first month of 2019 and still haven’t seen a considerable amount of snow here in Connecticut. I know I can speak for a lot of my family and friends… we are pretty bummed! Here’s to hoping February brings us some pretty white flakes.
