Just a little round up of my Friday Favorites, everything I’m loving this week from food to fashion to home decor.
This week was spent pretending I wasn’t sick when I knew deep down I probably had a sinus infection. After two weeks of headaches, I finally dragged myself to the walk-in. I was quickly diagnosed with a sinus infection and sent away with antibiotics and steroids. So today, I’m feeling full of energy and ready to tackle the day.
This weekend we are hoping for a snow storm on Saturday that won’t interfere with our plans to see Disney on Ice on Sunday. I haven’t been to an ice show since I was little so I might be more excited than my daughters. I hope everyone has great weekend plans ahead.
Here are a few Friday Favorites and what I’m loving this week
In My Shopping Bag
Brandon is accompanying me to the BlogHer Health Summit in Los Angeles for three days at the end of the month. We are so excited to get away without the girls even though it is primarily a work trip for me.
I have several brand partnerships and a few events to attend during the trip, so I have to choose my wardrobe carefully. My friends are helping me shop for classic items I can mix and match with what I already own.
Note: In my opinion, Starling Birdies are an investment shoe and classic staple for your closet! I have a pair in black velvet I wear all the time but needed a shoe made from less delicate fabric. Want $20 off your first pair of Birdies? Click here!
In the Kitchen
In an effort to cook more for my family I’ve started meal planning and prepping on Sundays again. Our weekly menu is repetitious and filled with chili, soups, and last minute creations. The Lodge Dutch Oven I received for Christmas is my go-to cookware these days. I’m excited to make Easy like Sunday Bread (recipe by my friend, Claire) in the Lodge this weekend!
One of my new favorite dinners is Shredded Chicken Tacos. They’re so easy to make and require only a few necessary ingredients. When I make up a recipe the whole family enjoys I put it on weekly rotation.
Another recipe I’m loving is Black Bean and Sweet Potato Turkey Chili, a recipe passed on to me by my sister. Look for the Shredded Chicken Taco and Black Bean and Sweet Potato Turkey recipes next week.
In My Spare Time
My love for Hot Yoga isn’t a new fact if you follow me on Instagram. I started classes a few months ago and feel like it’s really changing my mind, body and soul.
Yoga is helping me on my quest to find a sense of peace in what often feels like an out of control life. For one hour I turn everything off in my mind and become completely in tune with my body. Next week I’ll be sharing more thoughts on my Yoga Practice, including the top 5 reasons why I used to hate Yoga.
Loving on the TV/Web
There are so many great shows I’m loving on television this week. I finished Seasons 3 and 4 of The Magicians and the first two episodes of the Aaron Hernandez documentary on Netflix. I’m also enjoying the new season of Schitt’s Creek, which is one of my absolute favorite shows ever.
I’ve read a few great articles on the web this week. This article about the power of the Yoga Wheel Pose is eye-opening. I never knew Wheel Pose creates the necessary space in your spine to keep you standing tall. I’m only 5’3 so I’ll take all the extra height I can get.
A few more articles I’m loving:
The Art to Happy Memories (how to make MORE) – Did you know we typically remember most from our formative years, or adolescent period?
How to Politely Deal with Your MLM Friend – We all have that one friend who is constantly trying to sell something. While we all want to support our friends’ small businesses, sometimes enough is enough.
The Benefits of Reading Chapter Books to Preschoolers – Okay so I’m sold on this idea after reading the article!
Here’s to a snowy weekend – I hope! Check out my post on why I love winter in New England here!

Looking forward to the recipes! Hope tomread more about Hot yoga, too. I have added Yin yoga to my regular yoga routine and find it wonderful. Hot is not available where I live and would be interested in learning more.qq

The only way I will do yoga is if its hot. I don’t feel like its as much of a workout for me.

I love your version of Friday Favorites. More in-depth than most, and with fun visuals. You make me want to get back into my yoga routine, and try a pair of Birdies!

I’ve been getting into Yin yoga and it’s been helpful for me to calm my nerves and stretch my body! Hot yoga is a little too much for me hehe
