Well it’s safe to say I survived my first solo parenting weekend. With my husband traveling, I was alone as Mom to two little girls. Enjoy my weekend recap.
Brandon came home early Sunday afternoon just in the nick of time – I was exhausted. Leave it to Ailey to not want to sleep even in our bed while Daddy was gone. Last night though… she pitched a fit from 8-9 but only woke up at 1 and 5! Hooray!
I have to give a big shoutout and hug to anyone solo parenting out there.
Mommas out there that are alone with multiples for longer than 24 hours. It is really hard! I follow some people on Instagram who have husbands that travel or are away for the service and I bow down to you ladies. You are the epitome of strength!
While Daddy was away, we went to the library, shopping at the outlets, and watched Tangled for the first time in bed together.
Does anyone else have a three year old who picks up on every sad story entwined in a Disney movie? Annabelle was teary eyed while trying to understand how baby Rapunzel could have been taken out of her bedroom by the evil witch. She was also sad that she wasn’t with her real Mommy and Daddy every year on her birthday. What the heck Disney?!
Solo Parenting Must Have: A Best Friend Who Helps
A HUGE Thank You to my best friend Kim for bringing Lia over to play with Annabelle and watching Ailey while I cleaned up the house. I’m slowly organizing my home with #40bagsin40days for Lent, but the rest of my home needs some TLC too. Even though I keep falling behind on the smallest of chores, like laundry, it feels good to know I’m purging areas of my home. There is satisfaction in a space when there’s structure in the drawers/closets.
You can follow me as I work through the hidden messes of my home on my Instagram story. If you already do, then I’m sure you saw me out shopping with the girls on Friday. It was not for fun – I had to find them matching outfits for a little photo shoot they’re doing with a local photographer and buy myself a pair of jeans. Since Ailey was born, I had to throw away two pairs of my favorite jeans (one ripped and the zipper popped off the other). I am down to two pairs that fit well/appropriate for public and one that’s okay for running errands.
So on top of our TV dying, my phone has decided it doesn’t want me to make phone calls anymore unless I want to talk to the person on speaker. I can’t hear anyone when I put the phone to my ear! Has this ever happened to you?? Can it be fixed? Clearly I don’t have the newest iPhone (you can tell by the quality of my phone photos) and I’m not eligible for an upgrade. I’m hoping I can fix it soon!

Have you tried cleaning the sound bar up top where you listen to calls? Sometimes it just needs a good scrub with some alcohol and qtip

Ugh phones. Can’t live with them or without them! My husband has a work training in a couple of weeks that takes him away for 5 days /week for 2 weeks in a row. Already stockpiling chocolate and wine to get me through…

The phone thing happens to me intermittently with my 2+ year old Android. It’s annoying, but it usually goes away for a while 🙂
