What am I currently doing? Pulling out an old blogging trend of sharing everything Currently to give you a peek at life this week. See what’s happening in June 2025 — currently stressing over the end of school and loving a new book, plus so much more!
Currently Planning
We have been busy bees over the last few weeks. From celebrating my husbands’ birthday to attending school events, from rehearsing for the dance recital (this Sunday!) to the coldest start to June – I am planning a To Do list every morning to stay on track.
The last day of school is a week from today – but before that happens I have Annabelle’s 5th grade locker decorating night. She wants pink, dance, cats, sparkles, and a photographic timeline of her schooling so far. I told her I am going to accidentally insert photos of myself from preschool to fifth grade – but she didn’t think it was a funny joke. I am excited to celebrate her step up into sixth… sort of.
We have a lot of travel over the next two months and those logistics have my head spinning. After the last day of school, I have a week to pack for three girls and myself before we go on our first summer trip to St. George Island. I am big on packing lists, but that doesn’t make me any more efficient at this game. Somehow I end up with too many items we don’t need and not enough of what we actually require at the beach. Plus, all three girls need the most random summer wardrobe adjustments. The oldest has requests: “A swim skirt, comfortable flip flops, a sun protective hat that doesn’t look lame.”
Currently Stressing
I must say, I have done pretty well up until now avoiding the end of elementary school era feelings. Even after accidentally hearing a heartbreaking real life convo between my daughter and her best friend about being sad and scared and nervous to go to sixth grade – I held it together.
This morning I woke up with a few cracks in my surface. All those emotions I’ve tried to ignore are too heavy on my heart. Want to know what broke my facade? Annabelle had her final two baby teeth pulled yesterday. All the tiny little teeth, that gave her so much trouble over the years, are gone. The Dentist cheered – no more baby teeth! – but I saw a somber look pass through Annabelle’s eyes. Growing up can be hard.
Ailey’s promotion from the lower elementary to the upper elementary is not going to pass without some melancholy either. My most emotional child is – rightly so – sad to leave her teacher and school. I mentioned it to her second grade teacher, hoping for advice, only to see her eyes well up with tears. She said this year’s goodbye will be extra difficult as she truly loves her class.
Once I marinate in these feelings a bit I will write about it. I know I’m not alone – SO many friends, so many people I’ve connected with through blogging, have children the same age as Annabelle. Remember when they went off to Kindergarten? It feels like yesterday… but here we are actually standing in line for middle school.
It is a big year for us fellow parents – and if you are one of them, know you’re not alone. Shout out to my senior parents – like my brother and sister in law, I love you!
Currently Loving
Whether it sounds like it or not, I promise life lately isn’t all chaos and stress. I am currently loving a few things – like seeing the sun – and want to share them with you.
- My Potty Trained Toddler – I mean, this is a love/hate relationship now that we somehow need to use every public restroom in town, but WAY TO GO ARBOR!
- Sunscreen – I have two favorites for sunscreen. THIS BRAND smells so good and their marketing it outstanding. And THIS BRAND is not only toddler-safe, but protects my skin every single day. Skin cancer is no joke – so lather up and reapply!
- Sunrise on the Reaping – I have been so sad since I finished TOG, but this prequel to Hunger Games is helping me through my grief
- Mom‘s Classic Canteen – Holds an entire bottle of wine, won’t leak, and keeps liquids cold when you’re at the beach/pool/place you’re not supposed to have a glass bottle.
- Sparkling Electrolytes? Hot Yoga is hard enough when it’s not already steamy outside – this sparkling electrolyte drink saved me this week after overheating. I am going to pick up a few to keep at the house for busy days outdoors this summer.
- The Fisherman Aesthetic is the trend for Summer 2025 and it’s easily half my wardrobe in action. Although I am not sure if these $10 shorts fit into the trend – but I wear them daily.
- Manchild – Sabrina Carpenter’s new song, “Manchild” is catchy and cute. She said: “It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll – stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!”
- The Wicked: For Good trailer is out and holy goosebumps.
