When you’re six months pregnant, teaching third grade full time, and have a toddler tornado on the loose, deep cleaning your house is not a top priority. SLEEP and EAT take precedence over everything. If I do find the energy to clean, I stick to laundry and organizing since my nesting instinct is in full effect. That means that the scrubbing of the surfaces in our home is now someone else’s job.
Time to Create No-Fail Cleaning Tips for Husbands
Until I can convince my husband to hire a cleaning service, I have had to teach him some tricks for keeping our home from resembling his college apartment. I’ve always thought that if the countertops in the kitchen and bathroom are clear of filth, we can maintain a semblance of cleanliness, no matter what the rest of the place looks like.
Since grabbing a spray bottle and paper towels seems like a hassle, I’ve purchased Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers for my husband to use. Not only do they wipe out germs, dirt, and grease; but also they are textured to scour away stubborn messes (like toothpaste or spaghetti sauce) other wipes leave behind.
Trick One: For Germ Messes
We bring all of our personal items in from the garage every evening, so most of the funk I encounter during the day ends up in our kitchen. Since avoiding germs when you work in a school and your daughter attends daycare is like trying to stay dry in a monsoon, the kitchen can end up a cesspool for bacteria. I encourage my husband to wipe down the bench where we keep our work bags as well as the fridge, microwave, and door handles every few days.
Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers Kill 99.9% of common germs*, including those that can cause cold and flu, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella enterica, that can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours. There are plenty of other germs that may find there way into our home, but these arrive on a vehicle called FOOD.
All of that lovely food this pregnant lady likes to cook in her kitchen poses a threat to our health if I don’t take care of the area where I prepare it. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers can kill E.coli or Salmonella, so once I’m done whipping up dinner, my husband thoroughly wipes down my area.
Check out 9 Lessons in 9 Years of Marriage and Tips for New Parents.
Trick Two: For Kitchen Messes
Some people think a black gas stove and black/gray marble countertops are a blessing. I think their dark appearance is more like a curse. The messes that are camouflaged by the coloring of these items in our kitchen are not worth the visual aesthetics. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers have the ability to rid my kitchen surfaces of crusty pizza sauce, caked on grease, and any other dried mess that we didn’t see the first time around.
Trick Three: For Bathroom Messes
Potty training a toddler is no joke. Nor is trying to keep the tubby in which she bathes in nightly, or the counter where she accidentally spits her toothpaste, clean. Thankfully, with the help of Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers, we can easily wipe away messes our little princess may make. These wipes are double-sided for multipurpose use.
The texture side is perfect for scouring tough messes, like soap scum, and the smooth side is useful for simply wiping away our cat’s fur from the bathtub ledge. To all of my expecting Momma friends out there, share these tricks for cleaning with your husband! Let him know that keeping your house clean doesn’t have to be difficult when your maid, er wife, is in the throes of pregnancy exhaustion. With Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers, a healthier home is just a wipe away.
