One of the most frightening thoughts a new mother has is that something will happen to her baby when she has to leave her alone for the first time. Whether it is trying out the crib for a nap or putting the baby in her own room while you take a shower, not being able to see the most important thing in your life for even a few moments can be nervewracking. It’s important to find the best way for new moms to relax and keep baby safe. I know how this feels, for in August my sweet baby Ailey made me a “second time Mom.” I am just as paranoid with her that something will go wrong when I walk away as I was with my first daughter.
The Best Way for New Moms to Relax
The solution for paranoid (or normal) moms is a baby monitor. I have a few friends who are pregnant with their very first and knowing how hard it can be to find ways to relax with a new baby out of her sight, giving the gift of a baby monitor this holiday season is giving peace of mind. With the VTech VM341-216 Bear 2 Camera Full Color Video Monitor, I feel assured walking away for a little bit knowing that I can see and hear my precious bundle of joy when I can’t be in the same room.
The VTech Bear Video Monitor comes with two cameras – one is teddy bear-shaped for the nursery.
I placed the teddy bear in Ailey’s room and the standard camera in Annabelle’s room.
Both cameras feature automatic night vision and full-color video that displays on a large 4.3-inch color LCD screen so we can see both girls every move. I can even split the screen on the monitor and patrol both rooms if they decide to sleep at the same time. One of the most fun features is a two-way, talk-back intercom, which allows us to communicate (or comfort) our girls without entering the room. In addition to the intercom, there are built-in lullabies and soothing sounds. An added bonus is the digital transmission, which allows us to rest assured that our video is private and secure. This model is available at Babies R Us in-store and online. More info about the VTech Bear Video Monitor is also available on VTech’s website.
One of my favorite ways to relax when my girls are finally sleeping is with a bubble bath. The VTech Bear Video Monitor helps me to keep an eye on my angels and a homemade lavender sea salt scrub helps to relieve some of the tensions of motherhood. The perfect addition to a gift for a new Mom would be a sea salt scrub. You can make sea salt scrub right in your own home with a few ingredients and the essential oil of your choice. I love lavender because of its soothing and calming scent.
Materials
1 cup sea salt (or Epsom salt), 1/2 cup liquid Coconut oil (I had to melt mine in the microwave), 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil, a glass storage container with a secure lid
Step 1
Put the sea salt in a glass mixing bowl. Add 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil and mix with a metal spoon.
Step 2
Slowly add the melted coconut oil to the sea salt and oils. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Pour contents into a glass container that has a secure lid. You can add a label to the lid so your friend knows what it is inside too.
Give a new Mom the gift of peace of mind and relaxation.
Wrap your homemade gift in tissue paper and tie it with a ribbon. Then wrap up a VTech Bear Video Monitor to go along with the Sea Salt Scrub! Include a little note that tells your new Mom to feel calm this crazy holiday season when she has to take a moment to herself by not having to take her eye off of her little one.
When shopping for any Moms-to-Be this holiday season, think about gifting her with a sense of peace and relaxation with a VTech Bear Video Monitor and Homemade Sea Salt Scrub.

Oh my goodness, I would have loved a gift like this as a new mom! Sea salt scrub and a video monitor! YES! I always craved soaking in the tub but could never bring myself to leave my new baby without being able to see her all the time! What a great way that Mom can still take care of herself while making sure baby is OK. Definitely, helps moms peace of mind and her physical body too. Great gift idea! -client
