One of my favorite family holiday traditions is to hand out holiday cheer awards during December. Here is how to tell a home you love their Christmas decorations with a Best Christmas Lights Award
Holiday Traditions: Best Christmas Lights Award
A few times during the holiday season, we love to put on our pajamas, pack thermoses of hot chocolate, and load up into the car to look at Christmas lights around town. There are always some homes that are decorated in such an incredible way but never a way to tell the owners we appreciate their holiday decor. One night back when my girls were much younger, we decided to write out a ‘Best Christmas Lights Award’ note.
One note turned into ten notes and my hand quickly became tired of writing. My daughters wanted to help, but it can be hard to read the writing of a five year old. I then had the brilliant idea to design a Holiday Cheer Award on the computer. We printed 25 cards, signed our family name, and put a stack in the car to hand out all season long.
Handing out a Best Christmas Lights Award is a fun holiday tradition and activity for all ages. Not only can you drive around to look at decorations and hand out appreciation cards, but you can also stick one in the mailbox of a neighbor. There is nothing more thoughtful than thanking someone for making your holiday season merry and bright!
