On Friday, Annabelle turned 12 weeks old! Our weekly photo shoot didn’t go so well…
B and I celebrated her 12 week birthday by going out on our first real date.
I was having a hard time leaving Annabelle. I knew that her grandparents would be amazing with her – but she can be very inconsolable at times, and I am usually the only one who can calm her down. Some of the Moms in my Mommy and Me group recommended that I leave a shirt I’ve worn recently in her Rock-n-Play (where she sleeps). The scent of Mommy was supposed to relax and comfort her if she was feeling worried or scared. IT TOTALLY WORKED. My MIL said that she slept soundly clutching my shirt. I have to admit – it made me feel good knowing it was my smell that helped Annabelle sleep.
For those wondering – both our date and Annabelle’s night with her grandparents went very well! Annabelle cried when Coco and Pop first got to the house, but fell asleep soon after her fit. When she woke up, she had a fun time in the tubby with Coco, cried while getting changed for bed, and then promptly passed out listening to Disney songs on Pandora.
On Saturday we took our first trip into the city with the baby.
One of B’s good friends was in Atlanta for work and a wedding, so we met him and his girlfriend for brunch. It was the first time any of our friends from college/home have met Annabelle! She did great at the restaurant – as this was our first time taking her out to eat. She did fuss quite a bit towards the end of our meal, but this was only after she became bored sitting in my lap and embarrassed that she was wearing her burp cloth on her head. I would’ve held her in my lap the whole time, but it was extremely sunny and I forgot a hat for her to wear – needless to say she was not too pleased about the makeshift head cover. B and I took turns walking her around in the shade outside of the restaurant for a few minutes at a time and she calmed down quickly.
Yesterday we went to visit Coco and Pop at their house. This was Annabelle’s first time playing outside at their house. We went over to the Lake Lanier Rowing Center and had a great time watching all of the college teams practice. There were teams from New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania. Talk about a long drive… Overall, it was a beautiful day on the lake and one of those perfect little Sundays that you want to replay someday down the road. It ended with Annabelle laughing *out loud* for the first time, and then falling fast asleep on my shoulder.

Are her eyes brown already? My husband and I both have brown eyes, but our son, who is 13 weeks, still has the steely blue. There’s a small chance they’ll stay blue, but I’m not banking on it.
