Today I’m sharing an update on our youngest, Ailey, at seven months old. Read all about her personality, milestones, and more.
Life is so much better with Smiley Ailey here. Every day she does something that warms our hearts – whether its a new trick – saying ma-ma-ma – or one of her go-tos – like the tongue sticking out – we can’t get enough of her glowing personality. Her fiery temper is even endearing since it’s funny to see how such a tiny girl can get so angry when you take away the t.v. remote.
Ailey is sitting up well – but can easily be found angry on her belly when she has flopped over. When she is on her stomach, she seems to want to swim to whatever toy is in her sight. If we prop her on her knees and hands, Ailey doesn’t quite get yet what she is to do. Instead, she flips on her back and kicks her legs out to make herself move across the room. This signature move is also her favorite when throwing a tantrum in her crib.
We are trying out the DockATot to help our little one sleep through the night. Every other week, she has one night where she only wakes 2-3 times, but those lovely sleepy nights are few and far between. Depending on the food she has eaten (which ultimately gives her gas) or the incident that’s worked her up beyond calming down, it feels like Ailey’s Daddy and I have spent more time awake than asleep.
Food is a favorite and she loves to eat the real stuff three times a day. If we let her, Ailey would eat whenever we eat. She has been known to grab a chunk of bread off the counter if you’re not looking, so we have to be cautious of her grabby hands. Her favorite foods are the Pumpkin Banana pouches and Pear Spinach blend. There are a couple of fruits and veggies that don’t agree with her belly, but it’s been hard to pinpoint which food she has difficulty digesting since most of the times there is a reaction is after a blended pouch. There is no doubt that she is a sensitive girl!
At 7 months, Ailey has finally noticed the furry friend living in our house. Every time Muffin walks by her she laughs and tries to grab him. He has been sweet around the baby, giving her little kisses and every so often, rubbing against her back. We hope that when she learns to crawl she doesn’t terrorize the poor guy (Annabelle was nice to him!).
Ailey likes to bounce in her jumperoo, hang out in the Binxy while I shop, and truly enjoyed her first ride around in the big girl part of the stroller through the neighborhood. She isn’t not a snuggler when it comes to naps, but loves a good hug and open mouth kiss (which she is doing for real!). She babbles constantly and the last few days we have caught her bouncing as if she wants to dance when she hears her favorite “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” theme song. That show is the only thing that can calm her in the middle of a nighttime fit. Ailey smiles when she sees her sister and loves to slap her in the face. The girls love playing together, more Ailey than Annabelle at times.
Ailey we love you to the moon and back! Thank you for choosing us to be your people.
She’s so cute! Good luck with the sleeping situation I know how hard that is!
Thank you so much!!!
You make some pretty cute kids! But for real, it looks like she’s doing great. Since I’ve been reading here since 2013, it’s wild to me how big Annabelle is and now Ailey.
She is such a little doll! I love her top with the doggies on it!
She’s adorable!! I have a toddler who slept fantastic as a baby, but now she climbs into our bed in the middle of the night EVERY night. It’s tough.. but you will get through!
