At 20 months old, Ailey amazes us daily with a new word, longer sentence, or perhaps the funky dance move. She is wild, crazy, and her hair matches her personality.
Ailey is weighing in around 23 lbs and measures 2′ 9″. She wears size 6-7 shoes and 18-24 month clothing, although sometimes she fits in items smaller/bigger than that depending on the brand. Ailey loves to wear necklaces, tutus, dance costumes, and shoes inside the house. She is very good at putting on her own shoes, as well as pants – but shirts she hasn’t quite figured out yet.
As far as communication goes, Ailey doesn’t have a problem letting everyone know what she wants. If she can’t say the word, she throws herself a fit until we figure it out. We’ve learned her language though, like “Gong gong” = “Cheese OR Popcorn” and “Hah Hah” = “Water.” She can speak in 3-4 word sentences and her vocabulary is exploding on a daily basis. On May 1, she said, “I love you” for the first time, clear as a bell.
Counting to five (and sometimes higher) is a new skill that Ailey has picked up at 20 months old. She amazed me the other day by counting with me, and then counting on her own. She can hop/jump, dance, march, and run. Ailey is extremely active and there are only a few ways to settle her down – unfortunately television is one of them, and so is cuddling with her Mama.
Favorite Things to Do
“Boss Baby,” “Frozen” YouTube videos, “Moana,” “Trolls,” and whatever her big sister happens to be watching. She likes to color, but isn’t allowed to use markers because they end up all over her arms/hands/face. She loves to take things out of the kitchen cabinets and drawers, leaving a trail where ever she goes.
She likes to pretend to call “Marmo” = Little Marco, carry around a purse, push her babies in the stroller or put them to bed in Sloane’s pack-n-play. She likes to dance and jump for Sloane to make her laugh too!
Ailey loves to go outside to visit the chickens, run in the grass, or “kick ball.” She likes to play soccer with her Daddy and go down the slide with her sister. She likes to carry around her wooden camera and ask you to say “CHEESE” and play with her Frozen dolls, singing her own version of “Let It Go.”
Favorite Things to Eat
Cereal (Cheerios), sausage, string cheese or american cheese, shredded ham, cookies, goldfish, Lara Bars, grilled cheese, hot dogs (turkey), macaroni and cheese (only the white cheddar), blueberry waffles, M&Ms, Booty (Pirates Booty), Apple Juice
Ailey thinks the world of her big sister and wants to be just like her… but if Annabelle does something to upset her, don’t be surprised if you catch Ailey smacking her sister on the head, pulling her hair, or stealing a toy. I love watching the sisters silly relationship and seeing them play together makes my heart feel so full.
We love you to the moon and back our little Choop-a-loop. Keep on smiling, saying “CHEESE” and showing us those little chiclet teeth.
