How far along: 35 weeks 5 days (yesterday was a month until our due date!)
Total weight gain: 30lbs
Baby Facts: The next month is all about weight gain. Last we checked, Baby A was around 5lbs… I’m guessing she will be a 7lb-er just like her big sister!
We know she is head down from the doctor’s checks and the ultrasound we had last week, which means she is a good little girl who knows how to enter this world right. Let’s hope things don’t change.
Movement: I had a little scare Monday when I didn’t feel her move for quite some time – but the orange juice trick did its job and I felt her kicking within 15 minutes of finishing a huge glass. It’s weird though – her moves are definitely not as forceful as they have been.
Symptoms: Nausea is back – plus lots of gas and heartburn. Manic nesting mode is in full effect. I work all day and then by 7pm can’t walk or move. Annabelle’s big girl bedroom is almost complete and my next project is to get this nursery done! Insomnia. Why oh why can’t I sleep at night?
Early Labor Signs: Some doctors begin to perform internal exams around 35 weeks – some doctors do not perform them unless requested or they have reason to believe something is going on. I will be having the doctor check me again tomorrow since I’ve been seeing a thick brown discharge for a week now throughout the day. The nurse on call said it could just be a slow dissolving of my mucous plug (one thing that can happen before labor but doesn’t mean its coming).
Pelvic pain – I cannot lie – I thought my pelvis was splitting in half Monday night. I can only describe the pain as to what it would feel like for the Barbie dolls I used to make do splits and straddles as a child. I woke up in so much pain that I stayed awake for four hours tossing, turning, and moaning in the guest room. After finally falling back to sleep, I awoke to less of a “I’m being torn in half” feeling and more of a “I think the baby dropped feeling.” Not that her dropping means anything… she still has a way to go and after last pregnancy I believe an ascension into my pelvis does not indicate labor any time soon.
Missing: SLEEP – where did you go? All those people that say pregnant women should sleep while they have the chance because when the baby comes they won’t get any sleep have either 1. never been pregnant or 2. don’t have a toddler.
Getting Ready for Baby:
The list is so long…Here is what is NOT DONE
The car seat is not washed or loaded anywhere. The hospital bags are not packed. I can’t decide on a nursing bra, bathrobe, or pajamas – three items that I shall buy new as a treat for myself in the hospital. I’m waiting for the Nordstrom Sale on Friday (which will probably have nothing left). I also never did find a comfortable nursing bra with Annabelle and ended up folding my regular bras down.
Any suggestions?
Here is what I have done
I bought Annabelle some things for a “big sister gift,” purchased/was gifted a coming home outfit AND sister t-shirts, crib sheet and new changing pad ordered.
Wondering? Here is my 35 week bump update with Annabelle.

Ugh, the insomnia is the worst! I keep waking up really early and not being able to get back to sleep. It’s pretty awful.

Almost there! I cannot wait to here how the transition to 2 kids goes. We are contemplating a second child right now 😉 I went with the Underwire Full Coverage bra from Motherhood Maternity. I know, they say underwire can hamper milk production (but I was a cow, making twice as much as our boy ate) but it was so comfortable.

HEAR. Not here. I’m ashamed.

You are SO CLOSE!!! So excited for you & love the name! Here’s to hoping it’s a quick & comfortable 4ish weeks!

You are so close! I hate to hear how much pain you are in! But all the things will get done and if they don’t you will make it up as you go along. Which is basically parenting. From what I hear.

I bought some nursing bras from Motherhood. They were so comfy that I continued to wear them even when I wasn’t able to nurse!

Hang in there!! Those last few weeks are so challenging. It’s hard to get comfy and I remember the pelvic pain being so intense. Glad things are progressing. Treat yourself to some cute pjs and splurges to make yourself feel good. I always buy new pjs, new yoga pants and a fun water bottle when it’s time for a new baby to arrive. Thinking of you 🙂

Ugh this insomnia is no joke! So over it. I need your Baby A to give my Baby A a talking to about how she is supposed to come into this, she is quite stubborn. Good luck with the next month!
