Here I am, 36 weeks pregnant, feeling fancy and free.
How far along: 36 weeks 5 days
Total weight gain: I’ve lost three – so 27lbs. Wanna know something weird? I lost 3 lbs at 36 weeks with Annabelle too!
Baby Facts: Ailey weighs 6lbs and is in position for arrival. She has moved lower, but isn’t so low that the ultrasound tech couldn’t get her on the screen. Her lungs are almost completely developed, but they say 37 weeks is when she is full term. She is the size of a watermelon – and I sure love to eat watermelon these days.
Movement: Her movements actually hurt me most of the time. The poor girl is squished and her head is low so every time she turns her head I swear I can feel it… down there.
Symptoms: My heartburn is the worst. I think that’s why I’ve lost weight – can’t eat when everything makes you breathe fire.
Labor Signs? I totally thought I was going into labor on Tuesday. CLEARLY I WAS WRONG… but hear me out. I had cramps Monday night and when I went to the bathroom in the morning what I found in the toilet was frightening. The on-call nurse said I probably lost my bloody show and to stay busy on my feet to see what happens. She also thought I could be leaking some fluid. Well… by 11am I had two more interesting trips to the bathroom but nothing happening in-between – just some cramps and contractions. I didn’t think labor was imminent but I wasn’t convinced things weren’t getting started. I headed to the doctors office to have an emergency checkup and the midwife (who I am not a fan of) told me I wasn’t dilated and that the bleeding was probably a result of a small yeast infection. Umm…. I cannot find anything on the internet that says this is typical, but I obviously took her word for it. The amount of blood I saw seemed to be way more than normal … but I had an ultrasound too and Ailey is 6lbs and looking great. Just squished. I go back to the doctor this morning and shall see what he says… I’m going to go with the old, “Everything looks great! Closed up and still cooking.”
Then I will go home and sulk because selfishly I want her to come sooner than later. I want progress to be made down there… not to be told everything is still sealed. Everyone knows that at 37 weeks the baby is full term (tomorrow) – and I wouldn’t mind if she came at 38-39 weeks – naturally though.
How I’m Feeling: My vulvar varicose veins are my worst enemy. I can’t stand not being able to be on my feet for long periods of time and I am wearing pretty much the same couple of outfits on rotation since they hide my V2 support belt.
Getting Ready for Baby: I made SO much progress on Ailey’s nursery over the weekend – clothes are almost put away and there are only a few things left to do. My amazing friend brought us a swing – the crib sheets are in – the changing table mattress and pad are ready to go – and my sisters ordered us a new baby monitor.
I also packed my hospital bag on Tuesday in-between cleaning the toilets in our house and doing laundry since I thought I may or may not be having a baby soon. Last time I packed a hospital bag we had three to be exact – one for baby, one for mommy, and one for daddy. This time around I have one for me and Ailey and my husband is going to throw some stuff in a backpack when he knows it’s time.
Wondering? Here is my 36 week bump update with Annabelle.
