We had a wonderful fall weekend spent with my in-laws who have been visiting us from Tennessee. Our agenda was jam packed with a Scarecrow Festival, a trip to Yankee Candle Village, scenic drives to look at fall foliage, and lots of different restaurant trips. We were thrilled to show off the renovations we made on our new house, as well as our favorite spots around town. Last time both of my in-laws visited we were still living in Georgia!
Scarecrow Festival
Can you guess which scarecrow we entered into the Scarecrow Festival contest? Brandon put together the Capitals Player Scarecrow much to Annabelle’s dismay. She said next year she wants a princess scarecrow or something more “cool.” We thought he was pretty awesome…and so did Annabelle’s grandparents.
BAR New Haven
We took our family to grab pizzas at BAR in New Haven, CT. They serve the BEST Mashed Potato, Bacon, and Onion pizza I’ve ever had, but my in-laws and the kids chose their own toppings. If you’re ever in the area looking for a large thin crust brick oven pizza, check out BAR. (They even brew their own beer!).
Yankee Candle Village in Deerfield, MA
We drove up to South Deerfield, MA to visit Yankee Candle Village. It is SO fun there, but if you’re ever wanting to make a trip, try to visit during the middle of the week. There’s a lot to see (like a Christmas village where it snows) and a Make-Your-Own-Label for a candle station.
Gouveia Vineyard
One of the best spots to see the fall foliage in Wallingford is from Gouveia Vineyard. With a nice glass of Cab, my MIL, Mom, Annabelle and I looked for the best trees long the skyline. It was so pretty! I was happy to show my mother-in-law a pretty fall day in New England, but sad the trees weren’t as colorful as they usually are this time of year.
Since I’ve been so stressed lately with work and sick littles, I couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing weekend. I love spending time with my in-laws and hope they can come experience a Connecticut winter next time they visit!
