I admit I thought today was Tuesday until just now… After last night’s performance, I think it is safe to say that Annabelle is growth spurt/mental leap, and sleep deprivation has some great side effects. She was up every 30-60 minutes screaming like there was no tomorrow. She isn’t teething, she doesn’t have colic, and there was no gas in her belly. She was just screaming… for what reason we have no clue…
On top of a sleepless night, I have my first sinus infection in almost a year. I used to get sick once a month when I was a teacher, but since I left teaching last June, I’ve been healthy as a horse (aside from pregnancy related ailments).Β Thankfully I am not so sick that I can’t get out of bed. It’s just irritating to have a runny nose, headache, and clogged ears with a 3 1/2 month old who needs her Mommy’s full attention at all times.
Clearly she is not sleep deprived …
To make it through my sleep deprivation I plan on… finishing my ginormous cup of coffee, drinking some Emergen-C, and making myself go outside for a walk with pumpkinhead.
If I wasn’t breastfeeding, I would toss in some Mucinex-D or Sudafed-D to help kick this sinus infection. They used to be my go-to meds whenever I was feeling under the weather. The doctor says that they will dry up my milk supply AND they’re bad for baby, so oh well. It’ll be vitamin C and D for me.

Do you have the LactMed app? It’s a quick reference to see what meds are safe while BFing.

I think there are some antibiotics safe for breastfeeding, so if the infection gets worst definitely get to the doctor! I never can kick sinus infections without them (and I’ve had 5 in the past year and a half!).

Have you tried using Essential Oils? I started using them last year when I was breastfeeding and they work awesome. We now use them more then drugs, even for my son if he has a cold. Might be something you want to look into. I buy Eden’s Garden off Amazon and very happy with the product. Hope you start to feel better soon!

Have you read anything about wonder weeks? My son would go through spurts of not sleeping and everytime I would check, he would be in the middle of a wonder week! know it sounds simple, but try saline spray! The doctors always recommend it for my son when he was sick, so I tried it and it helps. Not a lot, but better than nothing.
