Today I’m celebrating my tenth blogging anniversary with Ten Big Moments on Caitlin Houston Blog.
Caitlin Houston Blog has been my voice on the internet for ten whole years. This blog has become a platform for sharing confessions and my fair share of announcements about life.
From a wedding to pregnancies to motherhood, I’ve bared a lot of my heart and soul on this blog. In honor of my tenth blogging anniversary, let’s take a walk down memory lane, stopping at ten big moments on CHB. In case you’re new around here, there’s a lot you have missed.
Stop 1 – How it ALL started
My engagement is how IT (this blog) all started. I always think, “Were it not for Brandon’s proposal,” I would’ve never been planning a wedding, stalking websites for inspiration, and felt the need to start a blog of my own.
Stop 2 – Hello Mrs. Houston, First Grade Teacher
In July 2010 it seemed like I was in a pretty crummy place. We had moved to Baltimore after Brandon received a promotion at work and I was accepted into a teaching residency program. However, I sound pretty depressed in this post… thankfully, I received the good news I was hired to teach elementary school! And so began my journey as a first grade teacher…
Stop 3 – The Boston Marathon Bombing
Probably one of the most traumatic days of my life were when I stood 100 yards away from the bombs going off at the Boston Marathon in 2013. Not only was my friend running in the race, but I was also 7 weeks pregnant with Annabelle
Stop 4 – We’re Having a Baby!
Pregnancy announcements and How I Found Out I Was Pregnant stories are always the best, don’t you agree? Annabelle is about to turn FIVE, freakin’ five years old, so I’m all emotional lately about everything related to her. I feel like the day I saw those blue lines was literally yesterday!
Stop 5 – We Had a Baby!
One of the BIG moments on my blog is when I became a Mother. My blog content began to change quite a bit with the addition of Annabelle.
December 13, 2013 – the day our lives became better that we ever thought imaginable. Annabelle Claire was, and is, the sweetest little girl we had ever laid eyes on. I’m so happy I wrote down Annabelle’s birth story not just for your eyes, but for mine as well. Memories fade over time, but being able to read over each moment brings it all rushing back!
Stop 6 – Goodbye Twenties.
Turning thirty was more difficult than I ever led on around these parts. I was saying goodbye to a decade that was pretty amazing during one of the hardest months of my life. To this day I’ve never divulged what was so horrible during the fall of 2015, but if you read my posts, you’ll know it was something devastating. While I’d never wish my experience on anyone, I will say that I’m a stronger woman today because of it all.
Stop 7 – BIG SISTER NEWS!
We prayed and prayed for another baby after I turned 30… then lo and behold we found out we were going to have another on December 4th. However, Christmas Eve was a sad day as the doctors said they believed I may have a miscarriage.
For weeks we prayed a whole lot more, and then the new year welcomed us with incredible news! I posted the pregnancy announcement on Valentine’s Day after we knew the pregnancy would last … and just a few weeks later we shared Annabelle was going to have a new baby sister.
Stop 8 – AILEY is born!
How could Ailey’s birth not be on my BIG moment list? She changed our lives for the best!
We welcomed another little girl into our world on August 15, 2016. Ailey Leighton’s birth story is a three part saga I love to read time and time again. She has brought more excitement, laughs, and sleepless nights to our lives. I know many of YOU have loved to hear tales about her too!
Stop 9 – We’ve MOVED!
Keeping the secret that we were moving from my readers wasn’t easy. I had to hide it everywhere – Facebook, Instagram, etc. When I was finally able to tell the world we had moved from Georgia to Connecticut, it was an AMAZING feeling. And since I moved here – my life as a blogger has become so exciting. I’ve been able to meet wonderful people, work with incredible brands, appear on the news, host shopping events, and so much more.
Stop 10 – Our Connecticut House
We spent months and months looking for a home to buy in Connecticut. It was exhausting, frustrating, and we thought for a few weeks we were just going to live with my parents forever. THEN we found it, we found our perfect Connecticut house. We would need to fix it up quite a bit, but we knew it would be our forever home. I’ve loved sharing updates with you all as we renovate rooms and upgrade fixtures – bringing new content to the blog you seem to enjoy.
That concludes our walk down memory lane… there is SO much more I didn’t mention that you can read about here.
Here’s to ten more years!

What an amazing journey of ups and downs you’ve had. It’s great that you have your blog to help you remember it all. Even though it’s not fun remembering the bad things it’s heartwarming to see that it all turns out alright in the end!
