Are you looking for smart snack ideas while breastfeeding? Here are some tips for smart snacking and how to create a snacking station during nursing.
Am I the only one who used my pregnancy as a license to eat everything I craved guilt free? For nine months, my motto was “FEED ME ALL THE JUNK FOOD” on a daily basis. I could eat anything I wanted when I wanted, while I chased around my toddler. Now that my newborn daughter is here, it is more difficult to eat what I want when I want. I can have sweet treats, but they need to be something that fills me up. I also need to eat often, as I am exclusively breastfeeding my little one and without the proper amount of food and water, my milk supply can dwindle. The problem with having a newborn and a toddler though is that I often forget to eat before, after, or during a nursing session or don’t make smart snack choices.
Since this is my second experience with nursing, I have figured out some tricks to making sure I eat throughout the day. If I keep a snack by one of the many nursing stations in my house, I have no reason to ever go hungry. One of my go-to snacks is found right at Publix (my grocery store of choice). Weight Watchers makes the perfect sized, individually wrapped snacks to satisfy my needs. I know with each bite I am getting a certain amount of healthy, worthwhile calories in my diet, instead of empty calories I might find in a bag of candy.
My favorite Weight Watchers snack is the Lemon Crème Snack Cake. They are easy to eat and small enough to keep a few beside the rocker while I’m nursing in case I’m hungry.
When you’re breastfeeding, it is important to drink lots of water and eat small snacks throughout the day. Making smart snack choices will keep your stomach satisfied and body energized.
