First of all… Happy April Fool’s Day. I don’t really like today because I don’t like being tricked. I am very gullible and fall for everything. Hence Mr. Bear’s delight in today. He’s already warned me he has something planned. Grrrreeeaaat.
Last Friday night Mr. Bear informed me that I had to get up verrrrry early Saturday morning so we could go on a secret adventure. Being the OCD Bear that I am, I needed to know where we were going so I could be fully prepared for our adventure (shoes, outfit, hair, ready in time), so I made him tell me. The super duper awesome place we were going to explore was somewhere I had never been and always wanted to go…
It was nice to visit the first weekend of the Cherry Blossom bloom because the crowds weren’t too bad.
I think that the Capitol building is one of the most beautiful structures I have ever seen. We saw a couple getting engagement photos taken right by here… what a great location!

The scariest man alive lives in here.

Yay for the surprise road trip. I love DC. The cherry blossoms were beautiful! Is Mr. Bear sporting a UT cap? Fred would be so proud!

Ok this is going to make me sound SUPER nerdy, but oh wells. I went my senior year of highschool with the highschool band (they go every four years). It was neat because we got to play at all the monuments, memorials, etc. (but lets not mention we were dressed up in our marching uniforms!).
But I think the Smithsonian Museums were my favorite – they are amazing and have SO much in them! Plus picking which one is hard, too.
Arlington Cemetary is beautiful (as weird/morbid) as that sounds, and it blew me away. Something else along those lines is the Vietnam War Memorail Park – it is also pretty depressing, but the structure of the wall is amazing art.

I love DC! I love it so much, I don’t even think I can pick a favorite spot! Glad you guys had a great trip!

My favorite places would have to be- The Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery (it is just so surreal and very touching as weird as it may seem….watching the changing of the guard had me in tears), and the Holocaust Museum (again, sounds weird, but it is so surreal and really puts things that you learned in history class into perspective).
Oh and I too hate April Fools because I am so darn gullible. The radio station had me in a fury this morning because I totally believed that some stupid assemblyman was pushing for a pet tax that would be based on your pets weight. Haha

I LOVE the pictures…
I have been to DC but we went at night just to go watch my friend play hockey… we were going to stay the night and then sight see but we didn’t. Hmmm… that must have been the Canadian in us but I am still mad that I didn’t get to see all the sights!! Boo!! Maybe this summer I will try again 🙂

This is going to seem like the silliest and most random question, but who always takes the pictures of you and Mr.Bear together?? My fiance and I never seem to have a lot of picture together because one of use is always taking them!
Do you just ask someone to take one for you? haha seems so simple but I guess I’m shy when it comes to that but I’m so jealous of all the couple pics!
Sorry, I was just curious!! 🙂

I lived in worked in DC and truly found the sites breathtaking, no matter how many times I visited them! The Jefferson Memorial is one of my favorites! I miss DC sometimes…but am thankful that I no longer live “in the city” – it’s fun to visit but nice to leave 🙂
What sweet pictures of y’all!
Hope you’re enjoying the spring!!!!
Cheers,

woah I cant believe you never had a class field trip or anything to D.C.
I went to D.C. for the first time in 8th grade, on a class trip. (and im all the way in TX!) I pretty much saw alot of what the city had to offer then.
I went back a couple years ago for a wedding, and revisited a few things, and ate at yummy places.
Whenever you have time while you are there, if you like Italian food, there is a restaurant called Filomena’s. I am wanting to go back to DC just for their pasta!
And call me crazy, but exploring George Washington University made me want to go back to school, and this time on the East Coast.
