GR….We haven’t carved a pumpkin yet!! Hopefully we will be doing it tonight, before we have some spaghetti and meatballs (for Mr. B) and mushrooms (for me). Mmm mmm mmm. I am also making some kind of puff pastry punkin bites or something…check back this week for details.
Mr. Bear said growing up he never used to carve pumpkins for Halloween. They bought them, but didn’t carve them. Most of my first graders said they’ve never carved one either. I have a sad feeling.
I can’t imagine a Halloween that we DIDN’T carve a pumpkin when I was little! It was a huge production (sort of like finding a Christmas tree) – the family would go to the pumpkin patch, we’d argue over the biggest most bestest pumpkin. Then we’d take it home, draw the face together, empty out its ‘guts’, and my dad would carve it. We’d stick a candle inside, light it, put the top back on, turn off the lights, and admire our work. Sometimes we’d cook the pumpkin seeds (yum!).
Did you carve a pumpkin with your parents when you were little?
Suze says
