My Grandma, 83, of Meriden, passed away at MidState Hospital, on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Wallingford, on Sept. 19, 1927. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Susie, the eldest sister of 11 children. She was predeceased by the love of her life Thomas F. Lewis. One of her greatest gifts to her family and friends was her unconditional love. The door to her heart and home was never closed; in addition to her own children she raised numerous foster children over the years. She loved cooking and family parties where her smile, laugh, and dance helped to make each event a wonderful memory. She lived in Harbor Towers and prior to her illness would run weekly bingo games, plan holiday parties, and leaves behind many dear friends from those days.
To know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by all. She smiled through each adversity that life presented her. Anna taught her children and grandchildren the true meaning of love.
The past few days have been a blur… I am here physically, but mentally I am somewhere else. I can’t accept that she is gone and will be taking a break from the blog for a few days while we mourn the loss of my Grandma.

Such kind words! There is not much I can say…Some days may end up being easier to cope than others, but you will forver have her in your heart and on your mind. It was good to know you were able to see her that day……Take the time to heal and take care of yourself. Thinking of you during this time….

I am so sorry for your loss. I know the pain you’re feeling and it will get easier, but you will never forget her. She will appear to you when you least expect it and you will see her again. When my grandmother passed, I thought my family would fall apart. It was hard, but we made it and we can laugh and cry now when we share stories about her. Many prayers for your entire family.
