My Mom and I went to lunch one of the last days I was home in CT. It was so nice to spend a couple of hours with just her… I know she is going through a rough time now that her mom is gone and I did my best to distract her. We checked out this restaurant that is fairly new to my town… J. Christian’s Restaurant … and were so surprised that we had not heard more about their food before. The lunch portions were huge, delicious, and so worth coming back for!
Our lunches…. two huge portions that could’ve fed four!
Homemade ricotta cavatelli with lobster and prosciutto in mascarpone and pea puree
House Salad w/ some incredible vinaigrette
What a gorgeous interior!!!…Too bad my flash isn’t working for some reason… but the restaurant is inside an old bank built in 1920s.
Block 9 Pinot Noir
Love the ceiling!! Perfect place for a rehearsal dinner!
Overall we had a great time together. Now that my Grandma has passed, and I have seen how truly heart broken my own mother is, I really understand that the bond a mother and a daughter have is truly special. My mom says, “There is only one person in this whole wide world who loves you unconditionally from the second you are born: your mother.” She is so right. I know my daddy loves me, but my mom, she loves me in a different way: she understands me and always forgives me for my bad attitudes. She will pick up her phone any time of the day/night and if I ever needed her, she’d be in MD before I could blink an eye. She knows everything about me – and I can’t say the same for my Dad (I don’t think he wants to know that much).
I love her more than I ever thought possible.
What kind of relationship do you have with your mother?

that lunch looks absolutely delicious! I had what I consider a pretty typical relationship with my Mom through up through high school. But that all changed when I graduated and went to college. I consider my Mom to be more than a Mom but a best friend as well. And since having moved away from home that bond has strengthened and I it continues to grow daily. I can’t wait for the day when we live a little bit closer and not a 13 hour car ride away! I guess for now endless daily phone calls and Skype will have to do 🙂

My mom is my BFF too! I have no idea what I would do if she were gone. I need to call her right now! LOL!

I just have to say that I have been following your blog (silently) for quite some time (since your wedding planning days). I love it!
I wanted to share another blog with you…mostly because the story on this blog needs to be spread. You will find all the details you need once you go to the blog (and to the blog link posted on the blog). http://www.anopenfield.com. She is a wonderful woman trying to help a friend who is suffering the unimagineable. She is having an auction. And word needs to be spread. I was thinking of who I could tell about this…and you came to mind. I know I don’t even know you…but based on your posts, you’re a gal who is all about helping others and spreading the word when it needs to be spread.
p.s. sorry for posting on here, but i haven’t figured out how to email you 🙂 i blogged once upon a time and forgot all the tricks 🙂
