Sharing a little life lately update with what we are doing, what I’m watching and reading, during July in 2023.
Life Lately : July 2023
Most summers I find myself stressing about everything – but this year I have consciously tried to be a bit calmer. I find that it’s easy to get overwhelmed during the summer if you are thinking too much about what’s to come and not what’s happening all around you. So… I’ve tried to take things one at a time and enjoy the happy moments.
After a long six months I am feeling like I found my groove again when it comes to blogging. My early morning writing sessions are paying off, even if it means waking up at 4:30 Monday through Thursday. I’m able to publish new content and update some of my favorite old pieces. Early mornings are my favorite as it’s the only time I am truly alone with a fresh mind in my house.
My mental health is the best it has been in a very long time. I went through a few difficult situations, which felt like back to back hits to my well being. When too much happens at once I have a hard time navigating even the simplest of tasks. Thankfully my weekly therapy sessions and hours of shutting my mind off during hot yoga guided me to a place of clarity. I’m still working through processing some things, but overall I feel GOOD. I feel more like ME. And I hope to only grow from here.
What I’m Watching and Reading in July
I have not been watching as many shows or reading as much as I had hoped this month. Whenever I have free time I run to a hot yoga class, organize somewhere in my house, or work on this blog. Here’s what I have seen lately though:
- The Summer I Turned Pretty is back for Season 2 and it is just so incredible. I love the storyline – very Joey + Dawson + Pacey – but the first few episodes have been quite emotional. The New England setting makes me nostalgic for my own teenage summers (even though it was filmed in North Carolina!).
- The Wilds – I am only one episode in, but it is very intriguing. A group of girls from different states headed to a women empowerment retreat end up stranded on an island after their plane crashes into the ocean. Somehow they all survive? And it starts with one of the survivors talking to the FBI… I can’t wait to watch more.
- I just started “Red, White, and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston. It is about the blossoming relationship between two former rivals: the President’s son and the Prince of England. So far it is really funny and I’m excited to see the movie on Amazon Prime next month!

What’s Coming Up – July 2023
We go through waves of busyness between the girls attending different camps, day trips and adventures outside the state to visit family. During July we went to the beach, Lake Compounce, and Ohio. This weekend we head to Ocean Edge in Brewster. When we get home we are going to do a little back to school shopping for one of my blog partnerships. I know my daughters are going to be SO excited to shop, even if the first day of school is still six weeks away!
