Today I’m sharing a peek at my life lately since it’s going by so quickly. There are big things happening in 2017 in my family and on my blog.
On Monday when I realized it was the first day of May, I actually had to stop and collect myself. How did it become May? Life suddenly feels like it’s sped up and I don’t know how to slow it all down.
Big Things In 2017
My sister and I (plus the groom’s sister) spent weeks planning for Tine’s bachelorette party in D.C., but our big trip to the Capital came and went in the blink of an eye. Now we are on to shower planning and helping her choose the menu for the big day. They’re having a pizza truck by the way – how awesome is that?!
We’re double planning events because 2017 is a very exciting year – my other sister is having a baby! We are finalizing invitations right now for the baby shower in June. I still have to do a double take when I get a weekly bump text photo – it’s crazy to think Lizzie is going to have her own little girl. Sloane is due a week after Ailey’s first birthday and I’m so excited for my daughters to have a new cousin.
This Little Blog
In the last few months, I’ve been working hard on growing this little blog. That’s another reason time has been going by so quickly. While I still want Confessions of a Northern Belle to feel like a hobby, I’m also enjoying the job it has turned into. I’ve put more into my posts than I have ever have before. Being able to contribute to my household while staying at home with the girls has been a dream I’ve hidden for quite some time. Now that dream is turning into a reality.
After reaching out to family, friends, and some readers for suggestions on blog topics, I launched a series called Simple Mom Outfits. You’ll see how I’m sharing clothing I wear to make myself feel less like a frumpy Momma and more like a confident, beautiful woman. To be truthful, I feel semi-embarrassed of these posts – not because my photographer isn’t AMAZING (thanks Lauren!), but because I don’t exactly know how to pose. My goal: to inspire Moms to step outside their comfort zone of old gym shorts and college t-shirts and try something new.
My Growing Family
The girls are changing so much every day that I worry I’m not catching every little moment. I try to take lots of pictures and post them for our monthly Chatbooks so we don’t miss the funny things – like Annabelle giving us all diaper hats one night after tubby time. I created another Instagram account just for prize pics like the one above, but it’s private for friends and family.
It’s hard to believe that Annabelle is a few weeks away from finishing her first year of preschool and ballet recital. She LOVED school this year and truly enjoys going to dance class. My parents have instilled in her this love of bird watching, so we have spent a lot of time lately leaving treats for Charlie the Chipmunk so he leaves her bird feeder alone.
As for Ailey, I guess its true when they say that the second one starts to meet milestones more rapidly than the first. She took awhile to start crawling but one she had the hang of it, she has started pulling up. We can’t take our eyes off of her because she is usually headed for the stairs.
Once Annabelle finishes school and ballet, we have a few trips planned that I’m really looking forward to. One in particular is Ailey’s first visit to the beach – I think we are all excited to see how she reacts to the sand and ocean. She loves playing outside already! I am really worried about her fair skin in the sun though, so the poor thing will probably be stuck under an umbrella wearing long sleeves and pants.
Here’s to hoping I remember to stop and smell the roses this May. I don’t want to blink and find June knocking at our door! Have a great Thursday.

I feel ya, girl. Life is going so quickly. Sometimes I stop and think and wonder how it can be May 4th when I just put away the Christmas tree?

What a great post! Congratulations on the blog growing. I am working toward a similar goal – and boy is it tough sometimes! I love that picture of your sweet Annabelle with her hands on her hips – how fun!
I hope you all have had a great week! Totally cannot believe that we’ve almost had a full week of May already!
