Are you looking for ways to keep your home clean during the holidays? Here is how to keep your bathroom both festive and clean during the holidays.
With the holidays quickly approaching, I am slowly starting to decorate our house room by room. There is nothing more festive than a cozy winter wonderland inside, even if it’s warm outside in Georgia. Since we always have a lot of people in and out of the house during the holiday season, I begin transforming our downstairs first. The bathroom off of our living room is seen and used the most over the next couple of months. Not only has this bathroom become my family’s primary restroom with its close proximity to the kitchen and living room, but it is also where we direct our guests when they need to use the facilities.
The problem with having only one bathroom downstairs is that it can be difficult to keep it looking holly jolly when it is used frequently. Here is how we keep our downstairs bathroom looking festive and clean after all of the ‘traffic’ that comes through this holiday season.
Step 1: Buy multiple holiday hand towels.
When you don’t have time to wash the one holiday hand towel you own, it comes in handy to have a spare to put in its place! I buy multipacks of holiday hand towels so I can swap out the dirty towel with a clean towel when I know guests are stopping by.
Step 2: Decorate with small festive trinkets.
It is easy to turn a small bathroom into a winter wonderland if you have small trinkets. Over the years I’ve collected enough holiday themed decorations that I can decorate my bathrooms. A few Christmas trees on the back of the toilet or by the sink make the room feel holly jolly. If something gets broken by a tiny guest (or maybe the house cat), you can swap in something easily since the decorations never took up that much space to begin with.
Step 3: Add a holiday rug.
I love adding a little festive rug for my guests to stand to the downstairs bathroom. It makes a huge difference to the room’s decorative feel when the room is decorated from top to bottom.
Step 4: Keep the toilet sparkling clean.
There is nothing more unsettling than a dirty toilet. However, I think it is gross to have a toilet bowl brush hanging out in plain sight when I know my bathroom is used frequently by guests. I am a huge fan of the new Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber for so many different reasons. First, it doesn’t look like a toilet bowl brush. The handle sits in a holder filled with disposable refills. Second, the Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber easily scrubs the messes you and your guests leave behind. The scrubber goes under the rim of the toilet and a built-in bleach alternative cleaner with pumice scrubs away rust & hard water stains. You know that stuff you can’t see firsthand? All gone with the Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber. The third reason I love this new scrubber – after you’re done scrubbing, you just push a button on the handle that drops the scrubber into the trash and you place the handle back into the holder.I found my Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber and Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber Refills in the Bathroom Cleaning aisle at Target. You are so smart! Having multiple festive towels sounds like a no-brainer but I’ve never thought about it. Towels get so dirty so quick and a dirt towel is embarassing.
I need this Scotch-Brite brush. I agree with being a little grossed out with the dirty toilet brush just hanging in there. Also, certain guests (who shall remain nameless) have used my toilet brush as a plunger. Gross. I’m going out and getting several of these and tossing my old brushes.
Love the festive touches!
That snowflake rug is the cutest!! Loving all of your fun decor. And this toilet scrubber can’t be beat. #client
