Let’s try this again. Here’s how the Just 4 Moms Podcast came to be (and what happened to that other one).
Ever since I was old enough to write I kept a journal. It is freeing and therapeutic to put the chatter in my mind down on paper. Eventually my journal became this website, but instead of publishing my free thinking, I carefully composed my thoughts. I share my personal essays with the hope of connecting with others. Whether my words are helpful or relatable, inspirational or just something to occupy one’s mind, I love knowing someone feels something while reading them.
Like most humans, I desire and value meaningful social connections. It’s one of the reasons why I was elated to co-host a podcast where I could chat with friends about life for an hour and then share it with the world.
Fast forward almost a year from the day I agreed to do the show when I receive an unfortunate phone call. I had just finished a family photo shoot for one of my best friends and was flying high on creative adrenaline. The vineyard where we took photos was hosting a holiday fair, so I was contemplating a celebratory glass of wine while perusing the gift shop. But then I saw my producers’ number come across on my phone. Thinking he was calling to chat about our upcoming recording session and interviews at the news station I went to my car to chat.
We were cancelled. Just like that. I cried harder than I thought possible (wasn’t it just a side job?), but I felt consumed by sadness. I am fully aware of how melodramatic this all sounds – but one must understand it’s not every day you wish to have your own podcast and it happens.
My co-hosts and I were dumbfounded and bummed. Cancelled … fired … whatever you want to call it, our contract was terminated without any warning. After probably 24 hours of wondering what just happened, we collectively decided we didn’t want to just say GOODBYE to our show. We put a lot of love, time, laughs, and hard work into creating 21 episodes about everything from mom friends to body dysmorphia to navigating the unplanned in life. But starting a new podcast from scratch can be intimidating, time consuming, and chaotic, so we had a lot to think about.
We spent a week figuring out logistics, ordering supplies, and securing a name. I still can’t believe how fast we worked together to make magic – but we did it. I am literally BURSTING with pride to share our new iteration: Just 4 Moms. The podcast is the same amazing real life conversations between me, Kallie, Charlotte, and Megan, but from the comfort of our own homes.
I hope you love our first episode. I hope you follow our podcast. And I hope this is only the beginning of something wonderful. We are Just 4 Moms – on your favorite streaming station and youtube.
