Ever since I was a litttttle bear cub, I have wanted to be a teacher. In second grade I would beg Mrs. Gargaly to let me take home the extra homework worksheets so I could play school with my moose Maryanne. It’s taken quite a bit longer to get to become a teacher… longer than I ever anticipated it would take back when I was wearing glasses and leotards w/ plaid shorts and penny loafers (get jealous).
Now…Today is the biggest and bestest most wonderful day ever (other than my wedding)…. because today is my first day of school as a TEACHER.
My classroom – not allowed to be decorated because apparently teachers don’t decorate until after the students have been there for awhile…strange.
Last night felt a bit like Christmas Eve – it was hard to fall asleep and then I woke up every 5 minutes to check my clock to see if it was time to get up yet. Then I awoke with a jolt before my alarm went off, jumped out of bed, and raced to the shower. The only difference between what I am feeling now and how I feel on Christmas morning is that I actually have something to worry about. I am excited, nervous, anxious, giddy, happy, and scared to death – all at the same time.
What if the kids don’t like me? What if I get so scared I can’t read my own guidebook correctly or I mess up the 7 Days of the Week song?
All of those things don’t really matter in the long run… because I know deep down in my heart that this is my destiny and I am finally living my dream.
Wish me luck my friends.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a full recap!

YAY! Congratulations! I hope your day is wonderful and I can’t wait to hear about it! :o)
I was an avid school player when I was little too. I used to ask for an overhead projector every year for Christmas and I’d never get one…so I’d write on my window with dry erase markers and when my parents would get mad at me I’d tell them to get me an overhead projector and I’d stop! They had nothing to say to that one! 🙂
