Yesterday pretty much sucked….
I thought that it was going to be a wonderful day when two of my *special* kiddies were out sick. Boy was I wrong – for some reason the excessive heat in our school + it being Monday + my giddy excitement in the morning = disaster.
My students took my good mood and literally RAN with it around the school and up the halls and in the bathrooms. When I finally arrived home yesterday at 4, I promptly laid down on the couch and passed out until 6…or rather until my phone rang around 6.
My mom called with some bad news… my Grandma (who was admitted into the hospital on Sunday) is not doing so well. The kidney disease she has been fighting with a shield and sword has gotten to her lungs. Right now she is on 100% oxygen and back to her good ‘ole self, but she isn’t in the clear.
I don’t want to think about what all of this means… back in August her kidney specialist told my Mom she wasn’t going to make it…Six months later Toots is still fighting for her life… and I don’t want this to be the end of her battle. I want her to see the spring – I want her to be at my cousin’s engagement party – I want her to have another Mother’s Day – I want to SEE her again.
My mom was supposed to come stay with me next week while Mr. Bear flies off to California… if I could I would just go home to Connecticut, but I can’t miss school. So not only am I going to be ALL ALONE in my new house, but I am also going to be all alone wishing I was at my Grandma’s bedside.
Please put my Grandma into your hearts, into your thoughts, into your prayers, so that her lungs get the strength they need to ignore that stupid awful kidney disease.
