Fingers crossed today is a good day. Please oh please let it be a good day.
Yesterday was a not so good day. It was a scary day.
My superhuman super powerful Mom woke up feeling kind of funky yesterday. Her legs were heavy, she was having trouble breathing, and her heart kept skipping beats. So she called her Primary to make an appointment and they told her to go to the ER. I think she was in the ER a mere 30 minutes before they admitted her. Just like that.
I think I felt my world close in on me for just a split second….
NOW before you go callin me a Drama Queen, let’s get something straight.
I LIVE IN MARYLAND. MY MOM LIVES IN CONNECTICUT.
MY MOM IS THE CENTER OF MY UNIVERSE. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO HER, MY WORLD SHUTS DOWN. Actually… if something happens to her… all of her family’s worlds shut down (this became very apparent yesterday afternoon).
My Mom is Gonna Be All Right
Right now she is in the hospital and I have no clue what is really going on. They say that her heart rate is low…way low below normal. And when she went to sleep it dropped even lower. And she failed her heart stress test. And her EKG wasn’t too great. BUT, she doesn’t have any blockages, and there aren’t any signs of cancer, and she has high blood pressure so it could be her medicine causing everything. She could be just fine with some medicine….but who really knows.
I don’t really know.
All I know is that I am here in Maryland and my mom is in Connecticut. I want to go home but she told me to stay here. And my Dad is on a business trip in Detroit and my sister is on a kayaking trip in EastButtholeNewHampshire where there isn’t any phone service. For the record – my sister and father NEVER leave the house… so it figures, huh? They leave and my poor Momma ends up in the hospital.
I’ll tell you her secret nickname…It’s Debi Rewis (rhymes with Lewis). I think everyone who has ever met Debi Rewis remembers her for the rest of their life. There is something about her that is unforgettable. Plus, she is that kind of person who wants to make EVERYONE around her happy, so she does whatever she can to make it happen. I swear it. Meet my mom….you’ll love her….and you’ll never forget her.
So friends… say a little prayer today. If that’s not your thing, cross your fingers, do a little dance, maybe just think a happy thought – I need Debi Rewis to be a-ok.

Sending prayers and happy thoughts for your mama! I can relate being so far away from family but Im sure she would rather have you stay in place so she doesnt worry about you traveling. Im sure everything will be ok!
