Last night Mr. Bear and I caught up on one of our mutual favorite shows

When our show was over we somehow ended up playing one of our favorite games…
prank calling family members.
I know it is immature… and you may think less of me for it… but COME ON, isn’t there nothing more funny than disguising your voice to someone who has known you since birth and asking them funny questions??!!!
Most of the time its Mr. Bear – he can do the best most serious voices without laughing – and I spend my time giggling in the background. We always fess up and tell our loved one who it is, but while they are unwillingly playing along (and fall for it every time) we laugh like there is no tomorrow.
When I was younger my cousins and I would prank call my Grandma Toots. Before you get angry – she is a woman of many curse words and I know she secretly enjoyed it. We would usually pretend to be the Chinese Restaurant down the street and tell her that her “poo-poo platter” was waiting for her downstairs. Most of the time she rattled off 3,798 swear words and threatened to call the cops on us, but sometimes she’d consider the fact that she may have actually ordered some food, hehehe.
My Grandma Toots is now suffering from dementia, so we would never do something as cruel as prank call her. She does bring up those days when she would sneakily change her answering machine to say, “M** Police Department, please leave a message or call 911 for an emergency” to try to trick us into thinking we just got in big trouble. She likes that we would mess with her because she always messed with us – and I think she was happy she taught us well. =0)
lol. I love that you do prank calls. Those were always my favorite part of sleepovers!

I love that you and Mr. Bear prank call your family! haha my roommates and I used to do that and we got to where we did it so much (embarrassing, no?) that eventually people figured out it was us. Although none of us were really that good at it and would start laughing the instant the person picked up 🙂

Haha! That is hilarious! My husband ALWAYS messes with his family whenever he calls them or they call him. I am usually laughing so hard that I am close to peeing my pants. And your grandma sounds absolutely hysterical! The fact that she has dementia but still remembers those days is awesome!!!!! Those calls obviously were memorable to her too! 🙂
me and lizzie still prank call her!! she still loves it and still swears at us!! she also calls us “booze hounds!” i’ll never stop pranking her because she loves it and it’s tradition!! 😉
Omigosh – LOVE prank calling. The best is to get the voices of celebs (i.e. Dr. Phil) offline and use them to make the calls. Hilarious!!!! A favorite pastime!
