Before Annabelle’s first birthday winter ONEderland party, we decided to have a cake smash photo shoot. It is a tradition for a baby to smash a birthday cake when he/she turns one year old!
Annabelle wore a Snow Princess onesie and matching tutu c/o my Etsy friend, Our Lil’ Bowtique. My friend Christiana from Solution Photographie set up the cutest backdrop for the photos. We had a cake and Christmas music playing in the background. And the star of our photo shoot… she was NOT having it.

Annabelle wouldn’t even touch the cake. You would’ve thought we were giving her a ball of fire. She also whined when I touched the frosting and put it on my face. So, even though our photo shoot was a bust – Christiana did capture some pretty adorable moments.

Jeremiah’s first birthday pictures didn’t go as well as I would have liked because I was mean enough to try to get him to wear shoes. He finally took good pictures after I agreed to take them off. Kids. 😉
She definitely is cute even when she is being stubborn! I know all about making babies wear stuff they don’t like… however the baby always wins.
So cute! Maybe she doesn’t like to get dirty… I think it makes a much better story to tell her year after year. You can bring it up every time she won’t cooperate. “I remember your first birthday photo shoot and how you didn’t even cooperate then…” I do that with my son’s birth story. I always tell him how he has always done everything on his own time, even his birth. 🙂
