A lakeside picnic during the autumn is brilliant and delightful. Read how we set up a light bright picnic with Annie Selke in Vermont during the fall.
One of the best ways to embrace autumn is to be outdoors, immersed in the enchanting colors of fall. While on a girls’ fall getaway to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, we set up a beautiful lakeside picnic to enjoy some light bites and wine with a view. There is something so magical about dining outside during fall – especially when I’m with my friends Claire, Kristy, and Helen.
Setting up a Lakeside Picnic with Annie Selke
Have you ever had a picnic on an outdoor rug? From the comfort level to protection from spills, outdoor rugs are the new picnic blankets. We layered a gorgeous Diamond Rug over a Herringbone Rug, both by Annie Selke. Then we placed Diamond Poufs and outdoor pillows around the rug. Since it can get chilly in the fall, we brought chenille throws too!
What to Eat at a Lakeside Picnic
One of the easiest things to serve on a picnic is a charcuterie board. The local shop in town carried everything needed for a perfect fall charcuterie board. Wondering how to put one together? Just group various meats, cheeses, nuts, dried fruits, crackers, bread, and even a few sweets on a large wooden board!
The Perfect Linens for the Fall
Every picnic needs placemats and napkins. Annie Selke has a beautiful selection of patterns and colors. We chose the Bistro Stripe and Gunner Stripe linen napkins with Bistro Stripe Indigo placemats. The taupes and blues compliment each other (and can be used year-round!). I love the mixture of designs as well.
Don’t let the season pass you by!
Gather your supplies, food and friends, and choose a location. Whether you set up a picnic by a lake, under a tree, or in your backyard, make sure you embrace autumn outdoors. The brilliant colors of the season come and go so quickly!
