Until i have a real computer to type on i have to make do with my iphone keyboard. I’ve copied and pasted an email I forwarded to my friends up and down the East Coast that lists my thoughts and observations about this great new land we shall call home: Elkridge, MD. Enjoy!
1. It’s a heck of a lot colder here than in Hotlanta. Granted I was born into the colder air and my blood used to be adapted to chilly brisk mornings, my body is very confused now since I lived in the south for the past 5 years. I think I heard my skin scream when I walked outside at 6am this morning.
2. Elkridge was established in 1734 and is a REALLY old town. I would like to expllore this historical community very soon – possibly when I can walk outside without my boogies freezing in my nose.
3. Dunkin Donuts is less than one mile from my place. O.m.g. This is heaven.
4. We are located near a bunch of housing developments which I
haven’t decided if they are safe to run through or not – how does
one establish that?
5. Our new apartment complex houses prob 240 couples/families and
only 20 currently live here. We feel like we are living in the hotel in The Shining.
6. We are 3 miles from a Medieval Times – Cable Guy loves him some turkey legs and mugs of Mead. I’m hitting up that crazy place very soon!
7. There is a huge state park 5 min down the road from us. We are going to explore during the first snow. I can’t wait for hikes and picnics this spring!
8. The people who go to Dunkin Donuts at 6am are not friendly… At all. Except for one old man and he was dressed in business clothes – the guys who worked at the state park looked at me like I was an alien.
9. There is lots of ice on the roads here. I know this bc I almost hit a stop sign after sliding down a hill yesterday. I forgot i was actually taught how to drive in winter weather. DON’T BREAK on ice!
10. The Harley Davidson of Maryland is located 4 miles from our apt. That is one place I’ll never visit.
11. I’m allergic to something in my apartment. I woke up at 2am and
felt a weird pressure in my face and now I’m stuffed up.
12. FYI this has nothing to do w MD but im watching the Gossip Girl pilot and have to say that I WANT TO BE bLAIR!! I’m def getting the straightening treatment my sister and mom had.
13. We are 20 min from Washington, DC and while driving through it on the highway you can see ALL the cool stuff you could ever want to see. I peed my pants from excitement on Saturday night when I saw the White House for the first time.
14. We are exactly 10 min from BWI airport. Which happens to be the
coolest looking airport I’ve ever seen. Glass windows everywhere!
15. Giant grocery store is My beloved Stop and Shop of New England!!!!!! It was glorious to walk into such a familiar place 🙂
16. We don’t have a deadbolt yet so if someone breaks in I’ll prob be killed. Miss Kriss can have my Tory flats and my orange Fendi purse (treasure them dearly). Please tell Mr. Bear I want to be buried in my wedding rings, both necklaces from Mr. B, both necklaces from my 2 grandmas, my new fleece north face pjs, purple beanie hat, christmas socks & undies, and holding MaryAnne in my arms.
One and a half more days until we have cable and Internet! Then it’s picture time!!

I love our little recap 🙂
ONe more day until surprise time and picture time! woohooo 🙂
LOL, I think your TB flats and (fab) purse are safe.
You typed the whole thing on your phone…?? You win the blogger of the year award already!!
Can’t wait for more pics…hang in there.
A suggestion for this…We are located near a bunch of housing developments which I
haven’t decided if they are safe to run through or not – how does
one establish that?
I would drive through at night with the Hubby and see what’s going on. Maybe try the same thing during the day/early evening. But chances are, if you have to ask, it isn’t safe.
Also, I am so jealous that you guys are so close to DC. I love that town. And yes, BWI is a cool-ass airport!
Can’t wait to hear more!
It is bitterly cold here right now! Not sure what that is about.. its the coldest winter in awhile (I think). I don’t live in the Elkridge area but I am pretty positive that it is very safe. G’s boss lives in Elkridge with his wife and daughter. You should be safe running. But the suggestion above is still a good idea!
Thanks for the update! I love your bullets on your new home! Sounds like you have many things that you can explore AND enjoy!
Looking forward to more 🙂
i am having the longest, sicky sucky, couldn’t sleep last night and am stuck at work day… that made me smile and laugh! Thank you!! Hope you settle in well!!
Ahhhh hahahaha. I literally laughed out loud when I read this post. (It has been a crazy couple of days and I am just now sitting down to catch up with you guys!)
You, my friend, are too funny! 🙂 Sooo glad that you and Mr. Bear made it to your new home safe and sound! Now comes the fun part of unpacking everything and exploring! I wish I was there to go exploring with you…but I’m afraid that we’d have to skip safety-testing the housing developments. Too many episodes of Law and Order have made me a chicken of epic proportions! 😉
Which brings me to my next point…you need to get a deadbolt on that door, STAT! While I would love your TB flats and your awesome bag and I would totally respect your last wishes, I would much rather have someone to email and gchat with when I’m thisclose to gouging my eyeballs out with a ballpoint pen at work or when I’m drowning my sorrows in some cheap vino!
Oh, and confession? I totally dyed my hair brown because I wanted to be Blair instead of Serena…
