Ever since I was diagnosed with Coronavirus I receive questions about my experience, my post-Covid symptoms, and my family’s health. I thought it would be easiest to answer all of your Coronavirus questions here. Please email me if you want to know anything else!
What were your first symptoms? Before I was diagnosed with Covid-19 I kept a running record of my symptoms. Initially I felt rundown with a sore throat and mild headache. Read this post detailing the week before I received my positive test in which I thought I had either the flu or Coronavirus.
Did you find that your symptoms came on one by one instead of all at once? Yes, you can see a breakdown of my symptoms as they developed here. The symptoms came in waves and I never felt EVERYTHING all at once.
When did you test positive for Coronavirus? I tested positive for Covid-19 on March 29. You can read the most FAQ about my illness here.
What was the Covid-19 test like? Truthfully, uncomfortable, but honestly not unbearable. I felt worse overall physically than for the 30 seconds the nurse swiped by nose and throat. Read more here.
Do you know where you caught Coronavirus? No and there is NO way to track down where it came from because I was knowingly in contact with a positive Covid-19 person. When I first became sick people were not wearing masks or using gloves yet. I made two trips to the grocery store and attended a doctor’s appointment. It was not until a week after I fell ill that the state of Connecticut went into a pandemic lockdown.
Were you ever hospitalized? I tried to avoid the hospital and was only sent once to the ER when my oxygen level dropped too many times in a day.

Did your family catch Coronavirus from you? We do not have proof that my husband or daughters had Coronavirus. However, my youngest had a fever for two days while I was in my third week of the virus. The medical professionals treating me believe my family was asymptomatic at some point during the 50 days I was sick.
Will your family get the antibody test? No, not now. We were told the antibody test in CT is unreliable by not only my Primary Care Physician and Pulmonologist, but also by my daughters’ pediatrician. At this point there is not even enough medical evidence as to how long antibodies last.
Do you still have Coronavirus symptoms?
It is impossible to experience “Coronavirus symptoms” after the virus is dead in your body. However, I developed asthma while I was sick and now struggle with it on a daily basis. I also feel dizziness and fatigue in high humidity. The asthma is most likely an underlying issue I had my whole life brought out by Covid-19. Most other times I’m not feeling well are a result of environmental allergies.
Did Coronavirus damage your body? Mentally : yes. Physically : yes. My lungs showed a bit of scarring during my CT Scan after I tested negative. I lost a lot of muscle tone from being in bed for so long and have slowly been working on my strength all around.
Can you catch Coronavirus again? No one really knows. At this point my doctors do believe I have antibodies against the virus that would protect me if I come in contact with it again. This could be temporary though and only time will reveal more answers.
Do you wear a mask when you leave your house? We are required to wear masks in Connecticut, so yes.
Do you practice social distancing? Yes, for the most part I am only with the same family members, few close friends. However we did just go on a family trip over the weekend where we obviously encountered a lot of new people. We maintained a great deal of distance from others, wore our masks, and washed our hands constantly during the trip.
