I never understood why every woman needs a little black dress in her closet until I reached the age of 30. Having gone to one too many funerals growing up, black was always associated with something sad. Then Brandon and I were invited to a wedding and after I couldn’t find anything to wear, my sister loaned me a little black dress she’d worn to a few events.
Not being one who likes to repeat outfits, I struggle with wearing a dress over and over again. But I’ve learned over the last few years little black dresses are just too easy to wear multiple times. Black is a solid neutral color that can be dressed up or down with the right accessories and footwear.
When it comes to a little black dress, the options for tights or booties are endless. During this Indian summer, I’ve been wearing my dresses with a naked leg. But, as soon as the New England weather changes, I’ll to wear this dress with gray or port colored tights and an oversized cardigan.

That dress is adorable!! I love the ruffles. I totally agree with this post – whenever I don’t know what to wear, it usually ends up being something black.
