Our third daughter, Arbor, is four months old (plus a week or two). Today I’m sharing her four month old stats with 19 week old traits, likes and dislikes, and more!
Arbor’s Four Month Old Stats
Weight – 16 lbs 12 oz (4/21/22)
Height – 26 inches (4/21/22)
Arbor is wearing 3-6 month clothing, but really busting out of most of the size 3 months clothes. She is growing so fast – gaining almost 1 lb and growing 1/2 inch in two weeks! She wears size 2 diapers and 6-12 month hats. See how Arbor’s size compares to Ailey four months old and Annabelle four months old.
Sleep: The four month sleep regression is HORRIBLE. Arbor went from sleeping in her crib for all naps and at least 1/2 of the night – to something new every time she is tired! We went on our first family vacation since she was born and she did OK away from home. Arbor slept between us in the bed, mainly in my arms, all three nights. Her naps weren’t the best while we were at the beach either. We definitely learned Arbor loves to follow a 90 minute wake window and 30 minute nap schedule only at her home.
Note: We will be working with a sleep consultant right before her fifth month birthday! She will be learning how to self soothe when she wakes at night and how to follow a schedule.
BREAKING NEWS: Arbor has not one, but TWO teeth. And they are sharp! Arbor’s pediatrician said while this can be common for four month olds to sprout a tooth, she has only seen a handful of infants with teeth at this age. Note: She was my pediatrician too so she has been around a long time! They predict she will have top teeth by 6 months old – which is crazy to believe.
17-20 Week Old Traits
Arbor’s personality is blossoming every day. She is very expressive with big grins and loud cries – never afraid to let you know how she really feels about a situation. If she isn’t smiling or frowning, her eyebrows are just as telling about her mood (even though they are blonde, you can really see them move!).
Fun fact: sometimes Arbor laughs when she is upset or overtired.
Arbor is laughing more often each week. I have heard her belly laughing when you pretend to bite her neck or play peek-a-boo. She is also starting to figure out the difference between crying/yelling/shouting/babbling and using each sound accordingly. Some people say the third child may be the loudest to always ensure she is heard.
Arbor’s favorite things to do: Arbor loves to play with all of her toys – a tiny maraca, teething toys, stuffed animals, etc. Her hand/eye coordination has improved immensely. Now that she has a better controlled grasp, she is beginning to grab at EVERYTHING. Food is always catching her eye even though she has yet to have a bite. It’s like she knows its going to be good so she reaches for whatever she can get.
Fun fact: Arbor finally noticed Muffin (our cat) and tracks him with her eyes. She hasn’t reached out to touch his fur much, but she smiles at him if he meows at her.
More Likes and Dislikes at Four Months Old
Likes: Playing in the Skip Hop Activity Center, riding in the stroller (finally!), being worn facing front in the Baby Bjorn, putting things in her mouth (indestructible books are fun!). Arbor loves when we sing her songs and read her books. Her big sisters love to do both with her, especially Ailey when it comes to reading. Annabelle carries Arbor around the house all the time now and she seems to enjoy the walks.
Dislikes: Wearing hats, getting put into her sleep swaddle, riding in the car if she is tired/hungry/has a dirty diaper, being ignored by her sisters.
Fun fact: When Arbor is upset we can usually calm her down by playing “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” – this works especially while riding in the car.
Four Months Old Firsts
At four months old Arbor has had the following firsts:
- Trip to the ocean (Maine)
- Notices the cat
- Puts her pacifier in her mouth without help
- Touched her toe (not whole foot yet)
- Scooted around on her belly 180 degrees
- Rolled back to belly and then played with toys
