Ailey Leighton turned ten months old on June 15 – but second child problems mean Momma is just publishing her update. I love the stage that Ailey is in – curious, explorative, and developing more and more into a little person every day. However, Ailey is a girl on the move and we are constantly chasing her away from naughty situations. She enjoys practically run crawling towards anything dangerous (outlets, exposed cords, cat litter) while laughing maniacally. Big sister Annabelle tries to help contain her but Ailey just gets angry with her and sometimes pushes her away. Life surely is exciting with her around!
Wearing: 9-12 month clothing, size 2-3 shoes, size 3 diapers. She still weighs right around 18.5lbs, but seems to have grown a few inches. Her legs and arms are definitely thinning out and she is starting to look as long and lean as her big sister. Ailey has 6 teeth (3 on the top, 3 on the bottom) with 1 more on the top peeking through.
Eating: Same stuff as last month, but she’s tried steak, baked potato, squash, meatballs, spaghetti, pastina, pizza
Doing: She climbed two stairs (looking for me) at her Aunt Sandy’s house for the first time on June 22. She can sign “more” and “all done.” She can wave, making a kissy noise, and give open mouth kisses. Sometimes she will even give you a hug upon request. She can mimic “Itsy Bitsy Spider” with her hands and clap for applause.
Loving: Exploring, putting dirty shoes in her mouth, trying to eat Muffin’s cat litter, standing while holding on with only one hand, walking around the house with someone grown up, holding t.v. remotes, crawling with something in each hand
Saying: “Hi” “Bye” “Ya” “Up” She does NOT stop babbling and most times it even sounds like her babble makes sense. Sometimes she says, “Ma-ma” but its often attached to an angry cry, so I’m not publishing it as a word. We all really think that she will go from babble to talking and one of these days, she will blurt out a full sentence.
