It’s hard to believe that summer vacation is quickly coming to an end. We have done so much this summer outside – from s’mores around the fire pit to front yard picnics to one big birthday party complete with a bounce house on the lawn. Before we get ready for a new school year, I like to celebrate the end of summer with my family! We will be enjoying dinner on the deck for as long as the weather permits. Here are four fun ways to celebrate the end of summer with your family.
Four Ways to Celebrate the End of Summer
- Make a splash! You don’t have to have a pool to have fun with water outside. Set up the sprinkler, blow up a kiddie pool, or have a water balloon fight! Make sure to load up on sunscreen and stay hydrated too.
- Take all of your meals OUTSIDE. My daughters like to graze all day long, but soon they’ll be taking their snacks and lunch breaks in the classroom. Set the outdoor dining table for a formal meal. There is no better way to celebrate something than with food, right?! Fire up the grill or pick up your favorite dish to-go. Then gather your family outside to cheers for a great summer.

- Stay up late to catch fireflies! Play a game of flashlight tag or hide-n-seek. Camp out in the backyard in a tent. Take advantage of the time you have together by spending time outside in the evening.
- Make a memory book. Jot down notes, draw pictures, or print photos of your best summertime moments. Compile your memories in an empty photo album or blank journal to look back on for years to come.
One final way you can commemorate the end of a wonderful summer is with a farewell to summer photo shoot in the backyard! If you weren’t able to capture some of your favorite family moments outdoors in a photo, try to recreate them for your memory books.
How We Keep Our Yard Safe from Bugs
We are so happy to have been able to spend a lot of time outside in our yard thanks to Modern Pest Services. The people at Modern Pest Services have been our go-to for all things pest-related. Gone are the days when I had to worry about mosquito, tick, or flea bites on the family while hanging out in our yard.
Thank you Modern Pest Services for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
