There is nothing better than starting a new week bright and early. I enjoy setting my alarm to wake up before the rest of the family and today was no exception. We have friends coming to visit on Friday, so the week ahead is jam packed with organizing and cleaning! Before I forget all of the fun we had over the last few days, here is our October weekend recap.
Celebrating 10 Years at Viron Rondo Osteria
On Friday night Brandon and I went out to dinner for our tenth wedding anniversary. We were excited to visit our new favorite restaurant, Viron Rondo Osteria in Cheshire, CT. My first trip to this incredibly adorable restaurant was just a few weeks ago for my birthday, but everyone’s been telling us to visit since we moved back to Connecticut.
Viron Rondo Osteria’s menu is perfection and the servings are ginormous. I love everything I order because it’s fresh and delicious. From locally sourced Italian cuisine, like homemade Liuzzi’s burrata, to a classic Rigatoni Bolognese, to tasty pizza made in a real Italian brick oven, I’m never disappointed.
October Annual Scarecrow Festival
Fall festivals are one of my favorite things about autumn in New England. Every year my family attends the Scarecrow Festival at the girls’ preschool on an October weekend. In addition to scarecrows made by the preschool families, there are local vendors, food trucks, and a kids play area.
There is a scarecrow contest with a prize for the most creative, but we always let our daughters design the scarecrow. Every year my family meets us at the festival and walks through the scarecrows to find ours. Then we admire the others and vote for a favorite. Some of the scarecrows are so incredibly creative and festive.
Check out last weekend’s recap here!
How I Spend the Last Day of My October Weekend
On Sunday I was supposed to attend my monthly book club meeting, but stayed home to take care of Ailey. She’s been fighting a cold that’s now turned into bronchial congestion. We went to the pediatrician bright and early to get a prescription for an inhaler.
Instead of lounging around, I chose to be productive. I organized our craft cabinet and purged the playroom’s unused toys – two projects of about ten projects that have to be done before Christmas. In addition to cleaning, I prepped my turkey version of this, the family’s favorite chili, in the crockpot.
During a break from cleaning I found the BEST coat on super sale for $180 (originally $375). I know a few of you have already purchased this wool parka, but if you missed my Instagram stories combine the codes BUNDLEUP and THESKIMM for the best deal.
The Cozy Essentials sale is not just for women, but the rest of the family too. There are lots of girls winter must haves, but I only bought one thing. Annabelle doesn’t have an in-between coat for fall/winter, just a big parka, so I grabbed this reversible quilted sherpa for under $50 (originally $98).
Want to see more? Here are few other favorites from the cozy essentials sale.
Looking Forward To…
Coming up this week: a huge fall blogger event on Tuesday, a CTStyle segment on Thursday, and lots of closets to organize. What do you have planned for the week ahead?

The fall festival looks like it was so much fun! I’m sorry your little got sick, but it’s awesome that you were able to get super productive during that time that could’ve just been used for being bummed out or sleeping.

What a fun festival!! I feel so bad because I haven’t done any “fall” activities this year, just been too busy with moving.
