Summer is here – have you packed your summer sun survival kit?!
Now that the sun is starting to shine with intensity, it’s important my family is protected from the sun’s harmful rays. We all have sensitive skin that requires a sunscreen we can count on. Since sunscreen isn’t enough protection from the dangerous sun, it’s essential that I carry a few other essentials if we outdoors.
What is a summer sun survival kit?
There are a lot of times my family leaves home not intending to be outdoors. My Summer Sun Survival Kit has all of the necessary items Moms need to keep their family protected from the sun. It is easy to assemble and items an be interchangeable to fit your specific needs. This kit is great for when Dads take the kids out too. Moms never need to pack all the essentials for a sunny day. Just hand Dad the bag and know everyone’s skin is protected.
What do you put in your kit?
In my bag you can always find sunscreen, sunscreen chapstick, extra sunglasses for the family, a hat for my little one, sanitizing wipes, a mini first aid kit, and a blanket to sit on. Whatever items you choose to include, it should be tailored to your family’s needs. Perhaps you want to add an item of clothing or a non-perishable snack? Whatever it is, putting together a kit such as this is so easy!
Everything in my Summer Sun Survival Kit can be found at Target. I carry a sunscreen specifically for faces and one for bodies to ensure we are fully protected. I love using a clear bag to keep track of smaller items. The blanket and clear bag, plus snacks and water bottles, fit into a large tote.
For sunscreen, I am loving the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc™ this summer. It offers superior UVA/UVB sun protection that is effective, yet gentle on even sensitive skin like mine. I usually end up with a strange rash from not wearing a sunscreen that is right for my skin, but Neutrogena Sheer Zinc™ is hypoallergenic, sweat and water resistant (for 80 minutes), and non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog my pores.

Great idea! I am usually running around the house 5 minutes before a lake day looking for sunscreen, hats, flip flop, etc. Need to put this together immediately!

Love the cute watermelon bag!
I’m glad to hear that Neutrogena came out with a zinc oxide sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens are safer and more effective, in my opinion. I have to buy more sunscreen so I will definitely pick this up on my next trip to the supermarket.

Great post. It’s a good idea to keep these things handy at all times in the summer! I tend to find myself out way longer than I thought with Little and want to be sure his skin is protected!
