Last Friday night in San Francisco five of us wandered aimlessly through the streets looking for the perfect restaurant. We were all a little bit tipsy from happy hour and excited about the night ahead of us.
We stopped to get champagne for the next morning… and while we were in this disco/convenience store we decided to stop for a bit and enjoy the … jersey tunes bumping through the speakers.
Little did we know that the cashier had cameras capturing our every fist pump and hip shake through the aisles. When we reached the counter at the front of the store, he pointed out the big screens that displayed our sweet dance moves for everyone to see.
Before the boys could decide that they were going to leave us on a street corner for embarrassing them in the convenience store, we won their hearts over by finding The Stinking Rose for dinner. GF and I had heard rave reviews about this garlicky haven, so we wandered inside to find out how long the wait would be. Fate was on our side because we were seated immediately!
My favorite garlic is the one sticking his tongue out.
I normally steer clear from garlic… b/c it sits in my system for days.. but since this was a once in a lifetime chance at a reknowned garlic restaurant, I dug into this appetizer like it was my last meal. And let me tell you… it was SO worth the stinky burps later that night. To be honest though, the next day you couldn’t smell the garlic on me. I guess that is how you know when you’ve had good garlic vs. the bad.
Arugula Pesto Fettucine with Roasted Tomatoes… GF and I split this baby. It was delicious! Definitely going to make my own version soon. Also very garlicky…but sooo good!
GF giving me some love while Rugg (her bf) laughs at Sambo and Mr. Bear
Sambo & Mr. Bear… our waiter was a big toolbag who would disappear for long periods of time. Mr. Bear is holding his pretend beer that didn’t appear for way too long.
After dinner we headed to a cigar bar so Mo and the guys could relax… I spent most of the time drinking free wine (the owner liked our group) and talking Mo’s ear off. The boys sat in the corner with some old man who was their new bff telling dirty leprechaun jokes.
We decided to leave the boys and go home early to get some rest for Napa. Apparently I also decided to flip off the person taking the picture… hehehe.
Before I go… I just wanted to say HAPPY FRIDAY!! Mr. Bear comes home tonight and I am so excited I can’t stand it. I am also happy because Brown Eyed Girl gave me this bright and cheery award.
I am supposed to hand this out to some lovely ladies that bring sunshine into my life but… there are too many to list!! SO… I give this award to everyone that reads my blog and leaves me comments. Go ahead and post it on your blog, and tell all blogland I gave it to you too. I promise you deserve it because when ever you comment on my blog it makes the darkest days seem sunny!

That’s too funny about the surveillance cameras! There’s no harm in fist pumping like The Situation, no matter where you are!

We have a Stinking Rose in LA too- love it! We had that appetizer too. I figure as long as both of us eat it then we won’t gross out the other we are horrible breath.
