Sometimes my jeans fit loosely. Sometimes they are so tight I have to wear a long tank top to cover the “muffin top.” Sometimes my wedding rings spin freely around my finger. Sometimes my rings are so tight I couldn’t get them off if I tried. Sometimes my face looks thin in pictures… other times my cheeks are a bit cheeky and I look like a chipmunk.
As you can tell, my weight fluctuates… BIG TIME.
For example… on Saturday afternoon I weighed myself before Zumba. Then last night I weighed myself before Zumba. Want to know the difference in the lbs I saw on the scale… SIX. Six flippin lbs of weight GAINED since Saturday. WTF???
I’d like to say this is the first time I have noticed a serious addage of poundage on my small frame in a short amount of time, but this is like the zillionith. One time I noticed a difference of TEN POUNDS in a week.
To be honest, I drank quite a few adult beverages over the weekend – so some of the weight was bloat/water. But now six stinkin lbs. I am NOT pms-ing – so there isn’t any added bloat from that. In fact, I ate healthily and didn’t sit around on my tush for two days – I was up getting stuff done. How in the heck does someone gain that much weight being ACTIVE??
Does anyone out there know why this happens? I really hate that my jeans are tight today…. if I could wear my most comfy dumpy baggy sweatpants to work… yah I’d be alllll over it.

don’t worry, this happens to me ALL the time. it’s a natural, just depends on what you’ve eaten and like you said, what you have drank in the past few days. it’ll be okay. you have a loving husband and most importantly, you’re healthy. it also depends on your cycle of bowel movements (i know, gross! )

I’m the same way… I hate the fluctuation…

Hmmm, the first thought that comes to mind is the time of day you are weighing yourself. Always do it naked, first thing in the morning before breakfast. Also, everyone’s weight tends to go up and down a few pounds throughout the month. Certain foods make me retain water and I gain weight overnight! For example beer, salty foods, and mexican food. Another tip, if I eat alot of greens I feel less bloated and I feel like I am having a skinny day. Hope this helps!

I am going through the same thing.. I’ve changed my eating habits…. been to the gym 4-6 times a week the past 3 weeks.. and the scale hasn’t moved! And when I hopped on the other day… it actually said I was ten pounds heavier then the last time I weighed myself… which makes me sad.

Welcome to my world..I have pondered for years where that extra five lbs came from over night although glad to say it could go away almost as quickly as it came. We all know salty products cause water weight gain but even certain vegetables can cause that. So don’t worry this too shall pass but just try to remember what you ate before it happened so you will know in the future what to expect.

I’m the exact same way! I weighed myself this morning, and it was almost 7 pounds more than I weighed just last Wednesday. I thought I was crazy! Glad to know I’m not the only one. 🙂

Your NOT alone my friend! I dont really understand whyyy it happens, but all I do know is that I try NOT to weight myself too often. I feel like it is better to just weigh myself a couple of times a month and to try and get and average…either going up or going down. Sometimes that scale will drive you crazy…go by how your clothes fit and how you feel…they are much kinder! 🙂

Hopping over from Alex’s blog. I love your header photo. You two are adorable.
I wanted to chime in on this one. I have had the same issue with “water” weight over the years. One day my rings are loose the next tight…same issues you talked about. I noticed that my legs, ankles and feet seemed to be the biggest area of issue. I started wearing compression. It helped. I still have the weight flux and I think that I always will but I am able to relieve some of the tightness issues in my lower body by weating compression tights (shorts and socks) at night. I wear them for running anyway. (that’s how I found out they helped) good luck.
