Today I’m sharing my struggle with a missed period for over six months and how I was able to reset my menstrual cycle naturally.
The other day something wonderful happened. Something happened that hadn’t happened since March 2013. I had been missing that something over the last 6 months… wondering where it went and if it would ever return… but she is here now, and she can stick around for a bit.
Let’s call that something “my friend.” All women know her, and she can be awful to deal with once a month… but when one wants to have another baby, she needs to exist for it to happen. At 15 months postpartum, I thought it was strange that I didn’t get my period. My friends first saw their friends a few months, to almost a year, after they had their babies.
My friend though – she was on some serious vacation or something. I began to worry when I started thinking about how I wanted to have another baby, so I saw two different doctors from my practice and they each had different opinions. Dr. W said to be patient, stop breastfeeding, and I would see my old friend. But after almost two months, I had cut back on breastfeeding and my friend was still MIA. Dr. B was concerned and ran bloodwork and scheduled an ultrasound. I cried a lot… not knowing what could be wrong with me. What if I wasn’t ovulating anymore? What if we weren’t going to be able to have another baby? What if I had something really wrong with me? All of my tests came back NORMAL. So… we remained stumped. Where had my friend gone?
Rewind to a month ago when I reached out to my friend Sarah. I told her my friend was missing, that I wanted to get pregnant sometime in the future, and wondered if there were any essential oils to help my feminine system get back to normal. She suggested that I use Progressence Plus Serum. According to the Young Living website, “The serum is pure, USP-grade, super-micronized progesterone from wild yams, combined with vitamin E and an essential oil serum (frankincense, bergamot, and peppermint).”
I applied Progressence Plus two times a day to the sides of my neck, and once in awhile to the inside of my arms. Thankfully Progressence Plus smells pretty delish, so I had no problem wearing it like a perfume. I probably couldn’t have started using the serum any sooner since I felt I was losing my mind after I developed a slight case of Post Partum Depression. My hormones went crazy for a good 10 days and I think I was mean to a lot of random people (sorry!). I also cried a lot. But I used the PPS religiously and 5 days into my regimen, I felt calmer and the craziness subsided. I also developed a pimple on my chin – in the same place I always used to get a pimple once a month when my friend visited.
Two days ago my friend knocked on my door and asked if she could visit for awhile. I almost cried. If my friend is here, that means we can have babies! It means I am normal! It means my body is working the way it is supposed to again! My Doctor had said my ultrasounds showed a healthy, fertile looking environment… so maybe, just maybe, Annabelle will have a sibling in the future.
I need my friend, definitely considering this!
