Since it is Friday and raining, I’m going to tell you all about my HONEYMOON! This is our Maui Honeymoon Recap Part One.
I know I am about five months late, but I don’t give a patoot. I feel like reliving our incredible trip to Maui right now and just to let you know, it is going to take me the whole weekend to talk about it.
We waited one whole week after the wedding to take a honeymoon to Maui. Granted we had to go back to work for five days before our trip, it was worth it, because we were able to breathe for a few minutes, soak in our newlywed-ism, all before packing our bags.
Saturday morning we got up super duper early to hop on the MARTA to take us to the airport.
We were very, very sleepy.
We slept on our first flight to Denver and awoke ready for a cocktail to celebrate our trip!
Even though our flight from Denver to Maui was 7 hours, we were SO excited we couldn’t possibly close our eyes. The stewardess brought us some free treats – she said she had to start our honeymoon off right!
We never felt like we were trapped on the plane – next thing we knew the pilot was welcoming us to Maui!
We headed to the car rental place to pick out our ride. We were thrilled to discover an upgrade was available and that we’d be driving with the sun on our faces and wind wipping our hair all week long.
During the weeks before our honeymoon I couldn’t imagine what Maui was going to look like, so I had no expectations before our trip. The scenery was incredible on our way to our hotel – Mountains to the left and Ocean to the right. Sadly I was still learning how to use our new camera so my pictures kind of suck.
When we arrived at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa we were greeted with leis and shell necklaces.
We were led to our gorgeous room overlooking the pool and ocean.
Someone knocked on the door shortly after we arrived to deliver these goodies!!
Champagne and Chocolate Covered Fruit from our Ringbearers (my nephews Finny and Ian)!!
We had the concierge snap a picture of us on our balcony.
We had the concierge snap a picture of us on our balcony.
Then it was time to shower, get ready for dinner, pop the bubbly, and explore the hotel!
The next morning we headed to the Swan Restaurant for the breakfast buffet (which was included in our honeymoon package and totally worth it). Every day we sat by the water and enjoyed quite possibly the BEST breakfast buffet I have ever had. I can’t even think about it without my mouth watering.
It was hard to snap pictures in here for two reasons: 1. The lighting was weird (early morning – at least 6:30 am everyday) 2. Brandon made fun of me for looking like a tourist.
After breakfast, we headed to the pool… which was paradise.
Without having to recap every single day we spent in Maui – I can sum up the pool days in a couple of fun shots. The pool at the Hyatt Regency was incredible – there was more than one pool, a swim-up bar, a grotto, a kid’s playscape, a water slide, free popsicles 2x a day, cold towels passed out 2x a day, and great poolside service (the best Mai Tais around!).
I know it looks like we hung around the pool a lot but we definitely did more than just sunbathe. We checked out the beach, went on numerous exploratory drives around the island, took a cruise out snorkeling, enjoyed some cocktails on a sunset cruise, AND ate a lot of tasty food. Pictures of those events shall be posted later…
