Do you know good it feels to not work for a few days? Since I’m self employed, it’s rare I can allow myself a full day off from blogging. But with the long holiday weekend and my sister’s birthday festivities, I turned off my computer and spent time with my family in New England. I’m now behind in just about everything, but taking the break was worth it. Read about my life lately in New England.
But first, Happy Birthday to Brandon!
Today is a special day… the 14th birthday I’ve spent with my guy. I can’t believe we met so long ago on a cruise and now share such an incredible life (and two little girls) together!
Thirty AF Party
My brother-in-law and other sister put together a little party for Lizzie’s 30th birthday Saturday night. Our impromptu theme was the late 90s, so everything from the food to the music just screamed MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTY. We played high school card games (Kings and A-hole) and laughed until our sides hurt.
Balloons by Cher Can Do It
I’ve never made Balloon Garland, but it was SO easy and looks amazing so we will be doing it for all of our future parties. Cheri Can Do It sends all of the materials needed, but easy to follow instructions. We blew up each balloon then strung them together using very thin wire. Extra balloons were sent to attach to the garland with tiny sticker dots. Cheri Can Do It has to be your one stop shop for party balloons!
Birthday Lunch
We went to lunch at Goodfellas in New Haven for my sister’s 30th birthday. The Italian food is absolutely delicious, the service fabulous, and if it wasn’t so hot we were supposed to eat on the rooftop deck. I kept my phone away for most of our lunch, but we enjoyed a few appetizers (the Charcuterie Board was SO good) and I ate a Caesar Salad for my entree.
Memorial Day Fun
One of my most fond memories of growing up in New England is the Memorial Day parade and cookout at a family member’s house afterwards. It is rarely warm enough for a pool day, so we never had a pool party or beach day like I’ve been doing for the last 12 years in the south. We missed Brandon as he jetted off to Las Vegas for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup!
We went to the Memorial Day parade in our town to watch my nephews march (along with some other family members!). It was foggy and rainy for the first part of the parade, but the mist finally disappeared and we had fun clapping along to the high school band’s music and waving to the town’s service members. After the parade we had a cookout at my parents’ house.
It’s impossible to take a sister photo these days….
