I’m back! After my ten hours of hibernation, I am feeling great! For some reason, I just could not sleep through the night in San Francisco. I would toss and turn, check my clock, and then around 5 am I’d be up for good. I’ve been sort of a walking zombie since I got out there last week…Other than my sucky sleeps and my looooong trip home, my weekend getaway to San Francisco was amazing. I arrived Thursday evening and Brandon snatched me up at the airport and rushed me to our incredible hotel in Union Square – Sir Francis Drake Hotel.
Opened in 1928, this hotel is beyond classy, so cozy, very romantical, and totally unique.

The entry way is gorgeous.

I would totally paint my bedroom the same green and tan stripes with a headboard just like this one if Brandon would allow it.
Our incredible view from the 20th floor! If my camera was better you’d be able to see the mountains and ocean in the distance.

Part of our hotel package included one free drink a day at the hotel bar. My silly stupid butt didn’t take a picture of the bar, but I did have a cocktail waitress snap this photo of us on the night I arrived in SF.

The stairwell leading to the hotel bar and lobby.
Room service at 2 am from the kid’s menu?? OF COURSE… My bff/gf Melissa and I took complete advantage of the room service on Saturday night…especially because it was cooked at the famous Scala’s Bistro – where Top Chef’s Jen Biesty is the executive Chef.
I snuck into Scala’s Bistro for lunchy on Friday while Mr. Bear was at work – pictured above is my INCREDIBLE Mushroom Pizza (Cremini mushrooms, escarole, goat cheese & Black Truffle Oil). Not pictured was my $15 glass of Cabernet… mmm. I wish that meal would magically appear in front of me for lunch this afternoon.
Thursday night we took the trolley to Fisherman’s Wharf for dinner. I was too much of a scaredy cat to ride on the outside of the trolley, but Mr. Bear was brave!
Pompei’s Grotto – Pompei’s Grotto is a casual, family-style, family-operated restaurant located in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf since 1946. The Pompei family specializes in serving fresh local fish, shellfish, and authentic Italian pasta dishes.
Crabs in our bruschetta!
Here I am in a HUGE candy store filled with different flavors of taffy and old school candies. I picked up a piece of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough taffy and a Caramel Apple taffy… I would have taken pictures but I think I gobbled them up the second after I handed the cashier my change.
BTW Alanna…here is my awkward tourist moment…
Trying to capture a picture of our doorman… who was cranky because it was raining and it seemed like everyone in our hotel need their cars from valet at the same time. I kept trying to snap a picture of him head-on, but the look on his face said, “I will crush you if you photograph me.”
As for my favorite outfit and meal… I will tell you allll about it tomorrow – when I recap our adventures at The Stinking Rose, a hole in the wall cigar bar, and Napa Valley!
That looks awesome!! The crab bruchetta too!!
crab bruchetta? YUM!!! next time i want to go! lol
looks like a great trip, AND now I think I have to add San Fran to my list of places to visit!
umm, I’m completely JEALOUS! Looks like a blast!
umm, what a FUN time with your bear! minus the travelling home and trip-insomnia. can’t beat late night roomservice though. i swear for some reason room service is so much fun! and i really can’t figure out why … 🙂
What a fun trip! Don;t you always wish you could eat at all the Top Chef’s restaurants? You are so lucky you got to do that! Can’t wait to hear about Napa!
Looks like so much fun! I have never been to California and would love to go! I have a question. I see that you have really curly hair. I do too. When you straighten it what do you do? Do you have the famous Chi or use something else. You can email me at [email protected]
Gorgeous hotel. I am such a sucker for those.
I stayed at The Drake when I went to SF too!! 🙂 Yaaaay!! Wasn’t it fabulous?! And I know I’ve said this a billion times before, but I’ll say it again – you and Mr. Bear look like total models! Move over Brangelina! There’s a new hot couple in town – The Bears! 😉 xoxoxo
Awe! It looks like you had a wonderful trip! The food looks AH-MAZING! The pictures are definitely making me hungry. lol
