With Autumn officially upon us, it’s time to share my Fall Wish List for 2025. Every September I add a few fall-appropriate items to my wardrobe (usually in the form of birthday gifts). My wish list includes timeless pieces—with a touch of 90s minimalism—from my favorite stores. I hope to wear these items into winter and spring, and for years to come.
Before I share my favorite fall styles, I need to acknowledge a trend I cannot believe has returned. Who said it was okay to bring back the dress-over-pants look? I definitely wore the combo like Miley and Hilary during Y2K, but I will not be joining anyone in 2025. There is no need for this newly 40-year-old mom of three to look like she got cold while wearing a dress and couldn’t find a pair of tights.

Fall 2025 Wardrobe Wish List
This fall I am loving elevated basics with feminine details, classic layers, and pieces I know I’ll reach for more than once a season. My style has definitely shifted toward chic-meets-comfort now that I am back in an office three days a week – but I still love items that feel cozy. Here are the top pieces on my Fall 2025 Wish List.
The Coatigan
A long hooded coat is forever, and this one is the perfect mix of cozy and structured. I love that it can be dressed up for dinner or thrown over leggings for school drop-off without looking sloppy.
Cream Dress
Give me a flowy cream dress with romantic details and I’ll find a way to style it in every season. This one is long sleeve while this one is sleeveless (perfect for layering over this top). I plan to wear it now with ballet flats and later with boots and a cardigan.
Ruffle Socks
Call it my inner child or my devotion to cute footwear, but ruffle socks peeking out of Mary Janes, Birkenstocks of loafers? Yes, absolutely.
Striped Rugby Shirt
There’s something very prep-school-meets-Fall-in-New-England about a rugby stripe. It works with jeans, trousers, or layered over a skirt.
Classic Leather Belt
The kind of accessory you don’t realize you’re missing until you need it – and I have needed to upgrade my belts for years. This fun belt is an easy way to elevate basics and make old outfits feel new again.
Cozy Cardigan
Chunky, neutral, and wearable with everything—what more could I possibly need? It’s the kind of cardigan I’ll live in through February.
Pleated Skirt
I love a structured skirt for fall, especially one that nods to the 90s without feeling costume-y. Perfect with tights or tall socks and flats.
Mary Jane Flats
I’ve fully returned to flats and don’t care who knows it. These are polished without being precious and work with nearly every outfit I own.
Wide Leg Satin Pants
An elevated take on lounge pants that makes me feel like I got dressed even when I didn’t sleep. These will be my go-to for date nights and hosting at home.
Sleek Leggings
Not all leggings are created equal. A flattering, high-rise pair without the center line is a non-negotiable for my fall capsule—especially with oversized knits.
V-Neck Sports Bra
As someone who practices hot yoga daily, I’m always on the hunt for new sweat wicking comfortable bras. This one is perfect for class, and also wearing under sweaters and tees.
Signature Scent
I’m not reinventing myself this fall, but I am restocking my favorite scent to mark a new season of life.
