Are you looking for Tips for Managing Mom Stress During the Holidays? ‘Tis the busiest month of the entire year and I’m here to offer some advice for making it to Christmas in one piece. Don’t let the chaos of the holiday season weigh you down – instead use these tips to stay organized and jolly before Santa comes!
6 Tips for Managing Mom Stress During the Holidays
1. Make a note (in your phone) of where you hide all of your packages and presents. I am speaking from personal experience when I say that there is nothing more disappointing than not being able to find a gift you ordered special for your Uncle Al.
2. Schedule time for relaxation – or just sneak off to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the bathroom where no one can find you. My favorite New England Coffee blends are always accompanying me while doing chores around the house. Sometimes I tell my husband I have to change over the laundry, but I really just turn on the dryer and sip my coffee away from the family.
3. Speaking of coffee, choose DECAF coffee for any late night present wrapping. You will need your sleep to do ALL the holiday things this week. Don’t make the mistake of drinking too much caffeine close to bed or you’ll be wired instead of tired when it’s time to turn off the lights.
4. Sing Christmas Carols as loud as you can to no one in particular. Did you know singing eases stress by boosting endorphins?
5. Write LOTS of lists to stay organized. A gift list, grocery list, things you love about the holiday list (so you stay positive in the chaos). It is okay if you have multiple – but keep them all in one notebook or on one device
6. Participate in a 5-10 Minute Dance Party (solo, with your partner, or even the kids). Don’t like dancing? Work up a sweat doing SOMETHING – sometimes just a little bit of movement can snap you out of a stressful funk. Just like singing, physical activity may help bump up the production of your brain’s feel-good endorphins.
