The first day of winter, Winter Solstice, is upon us and today I’m sharing how to winterize your home with seasonal decor.
There are parts of winterizing your home that aren’t so thrilling, like making sure your pipes don’t freeze. However preparing your home decor for changing seasons and the holidays is always the most wonderful time of the year.
It’s easy to turn your home into a winter wonderland with just a few touches.
Twinkly lights on the staircase, fresh garland on the kitchen window, and dried oranges and cinnamon ornaments hanging from the mantle. It can be cold and snowy outside, but warm and cozy inside (even if you don’t have a fireplace).
One doesn’t necessarily have to put away their fall decorations when winter begins. If you have fall flowers, let the bouquet dry out and add winter touches around it, like garland or a festive vase. My sister has her fall wedding bouquet on display in the sunroom and it looks beautiful against the winter decor.
If you live in an area with pine trees, pinecones, and holly bushes, pick some to place around your home to spruce up any store-bought decor.
Even if you have to pull over on the side of the road, it is worth your time to use natural resources to winterize your home decor. Natural pieces, like evergreen garland, can stay up in your home throughout the winter season.
A collection of milk glass vases turns into a simply beautiful display with winter greens and berries.
Make a focal point in your home, like the fireplace, a winterized area that can stay decorated even after the Christmas tree comes down.
Natural decor that is winter themed will be beautiful until spring shows up. You can add seasonal pillows to your couch or a plush rug under the coffee table to warm up your room too. Read more tips about from How to Winterize Your Home with Seasonal Decor here.
