Mr. Bear and I are quite proud of ourselves for installing a curtain rod this morning without a drill. Our bedroom is starting to look a little more like a bedroom and less like a prison cell with a huge bed.
Granted we figured out that curtains help make a room look better…we need HELP from all of you natural-born interior decoraters.
The newlywed Bears are in dire need of assistance decorating their new apartment. If you have any suggestions please let them… I mean me… know.
For instance:
What kind of dresser could I put in this room… should it be black or brown wood?
What should we hang above our bed?
Where can I find an inexpensive headboard to match our bedding?
Does our bedroom look like a 12 year old boy sleeps in it?
If you have the answers to any of these questions, please share! Or if you have any suggestions, I am all ears! After we tackle this room, I will post some pictures of our living room and guest room =0)

Look how the room is coming together 🙂
Go you! I am a terrible decorator and can offer absolutely no suggestion. Oh yes, I am that bad! You should see my house. It’s killing me!
Have a happy Saturday my friend!!

It’s coming along great!! If you are going to keep that color scheme, I say go with brown furniture. And you could make a headboard or try to find one on craigslist. You can find some great steals on there and if it isn’t the color you want, you can easily repaint it.
Martinis or Diaper Genies? says
Here are my suggestions….
If you want to keep the red and black, you have to paint your walls. You have a warm neutral with jarring colors that don’t work together.
Paint the walls a light gray.

I would also go with brown furniture, because from my experience, it goes with just about any color scheme you choose down the road…except maybe black and white, but if you go that route, you just trade out your dresser for something you have in your guest room, right? 🙂 But with the blue and red, brown will go really nicely. You could also do something kind of shabby chic and paint an old one and then use sandpaper to distress the edges (I suggest brown or white paint). As for a headboard, consignment shops are great, and I found one for under $200 at Cost Plus World Market- do you guys have those there?
Once you’ve picked your headboard, then you can think about decorating the walls. But first you have to know how tall your headboard will be.
I think the bedding is adorable! Perfect for a couple- I always am drawn to girly patterns, and my boyfriend just groans!
Goodluck decorating! (So much fun!)

Making an apartment a “home” is time consuming but I know you can do it! Painting always helps! If you didn’t get a headboard, you could paint the wall that your bed is against as a color different from the other walls-kinda like an accent wall.
As far as decorating? I personally like brown over black, but that’s because I find it to be a “warmer” color. Black def. has it’s positives though-it’s classy, sleek, and makes a statement.
For decorations I LOVE shadow boxes. I think they really add a lot to a room. I also am a huge lover of art, so I have a lot up around the house.
Looks like you’ll be getting many great suggestions! I can’t wait to see waht you decide!
All you need is love... says
Well I must be the first to prefer black furniture… but not BLACK black.
My furniture color is called Almost black, and while it appears black, in natural light you can see brown. I also love the color deep expresso.
World Market has good headboards. But to be honest, most headboards I have seen are REALLY close in price to buying a full bed. I would consider that too.
My favorite decor I have seen above a bed is 2 or 3 frames still life pictures. if you choose 3, then they need to be vertical pics.
LOL, I wouldnt say it looks like a 12 year old boy lives in there, but it definately has more of a boy feel. But that can easily be changed with decor.
Here are links to the dresser set I have right now, and I LOVE it.. I have actually seen the white one on 90210. but it really depends on your taste.

Big lots! We got our wood headboard at big lots and love it. Also, you’ve lived in Atl so you’re no stranger to Ikea. Do it!
